Wimbledon champion Ash Barty reveals exciting news

Ash Barty has revealed she is releasing a new tennis-themed children’s book just two years after her retirement from the sport.

The Australian tennis champion, 28, retired in March 2022 at the height of her career at the age of 25 and is now exploring new ventures.

On Thursday she announced on Instagram that she has created a series of children’s books about her beloved sport, called Tennis Camp Diaries.

The first book in the series is called Doubles Disaster and is expected to be released on July 3. Ash shares photos of herself proudly posing with the book.

Alongside the photos, the mother of one wrote: ‘I’m so excited to share my brand new children’s book series with you all.

‘It’s called Tennis Camp Diaries, and the first book ‘Doubles Disaster’ follows the highs and lows of Ash going to tennis camp, competing in a doubles tournament and other fun adventures.

‘It was fantastic to work again with the team behind Little Ash, Jasmin McGaughey and Jade Goodwin to create this story. Book one will be released on July 3. I can’t wait for everyone to read it!’

This isn’t Ash’s first time dabbling in children’s literature, as she previously collaborated with Jasmin McGaughey to help create the 10-book Little Ash series.

On Wednesday, she announced on Instagram that she has created a series of children’s books about her beloved sport, called Tennis Camp Diaries.

Her latest career adventure comes after she quashed rumors that she would return to professional tennis.

There was also speculation that she would take up her husband Garry Kissick’s golfing career, but she firmly denied the rumours.

β€œThe answer to both questions is no,” she said New Idea Magazine when asked about the speculation.

Ash sensationally retired from the sport when she was at the peak of her powers, following her breakthrough win at the Australian Open in January 2022.

Since her retirement, Ash has welcomed her first child with her husband Garry, and in July she took to Instagram to confirm the happy news.

She later opened up about the joys of being a mother, and shared how raising her newborn son Hayden has been rewarding in many ways.

“It’s the best and hardest thing I’ve ever done,” Ash told News Corp.

‘Hayden is amazing, I feel so happy. Garry and I are actually just enjoying a pretty quiet time together at home as a little family.”

Ash said the bond she has formed with Hayden is “incredible” as she gushed about motherhood.
