He may not fly to space in a rocket anymore.
But 92-year-old William Shatner will put on his astronaut suit as he intends for a new reality show called Stars On Mars to be filmed in Australia.
The red dust of the Australian desert is meant to mimic a Martian landscape in the competition-style reality show where celebrities will see what it’s like to be an astronaut on Mars.
Despite recently saying that he “doesn’t have long to live”, the Star Trek legend is once again returning to our screens to present the American reality series in which Hollywood stars will survive in the “marching colony” in Alice Springs.
Shatner will once again bring out a bit of Captain James T Kirk as he charges the Mission Control celebs with various space-themed challenges as they strive to be the last ‘celebronaut’ standing.

The cast will be a mostly American lineup, with The Daily Telegraph reporting that The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Rinna is one of the first stars to be booked.
The I’m A Celebrity-esque reality show will air on Fox in the US on June 5.
Allison Wallach, head of Fox’s unscripted programming, said in a statement that the concept is “so bizarre” that she knew it belonged to the station.

She added, “Watching celebrities take giant leaps out of their comfort zone and step into the unexpected is bound to be truly transformational and comedic.
“We’ll be learning a lot about these stars all the way through, and when you factor in William Shatner leading the Mission Control raid, we’ve got the makings of a show ready to launch.”
Despite his age, Shatner looks more than capable of helming the new series after becoming the oldest living person to go into space when he boarded Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin New Shepard rocketship in 2021 at age 90.

However, the Hollywood star has recently opened up about the “little time” he has left on this earth, which is why he released a documentary about his life last month titled You Can Call Me Bill.
Speak against Variety he said: ‘I’ve already turned down a lot of offers to make documentaries. But I don’t have long to live.
“Whether I fall over talking to you or 10 years from now, my time is limited, so that plays a big part. I have grandchildren. This documentary is a way to reach out after I’m dead.”
The actor is father to daughters Leslie, Lisabeth and Melanie from three previous marriages and is a grandfather of five.
