- William Gomis did not make weight for his UFC 301 fight with Jean Silva
- The Frenchman looked unwell and wobbled while weighing 143 pounds
- The two men will meet in a featherweight bout on Saturday unless it is canceled
The fight between William Gomis and Jean Silva at UFC 301 has been canceled after Gomis was seen in serious condition during the official weigh-in on Friday.
The Frenchman looked extremely unwell as he weighed in for his featherweight fight with Silva – and came in underweight.
Gomis weighed 143 pounds, losing 2 pounds for Saturday’s fight at UFC 301 in Rio de Janeiro.
And journalist Ariel Helwani has confirmed the fight has now been canceled after hearing from the fighter’s team.
He was tipped for a strong fight after winning his last eleven meetings, with an overall record of 13-2.

After two straight Gomis fights were canceled, fans were eager to see him return to try and claim a fourth win in the Octagon.
However, he wobbled on the scales and has left fans confused as to why he exhausted himself so much.
The fight could be called off because of how sick he looked and that’s something to think about.
However, if the fight goes ahead, he won’t lose any money; fighters are only punished if they are overweight.
Journalist Guilherme Cruz wrote of
“Apparently he threw up right before he weighed in.” The Commission’s doctors followed him closely. Jean Silva, his opponent, weighed 146 pounds.”
Gomis is a promising fighter among the UFC’s new wave of French signees, having won all three of his bouts with the promotion.
Silva, meanwhile, has had just one fight in the UFC, beating Westin Wilson in the first round on short notice after Gabriel Santos pulled out.
