Will Smith, 55, surprises fans with a performance of his 1991 hit song Summertime as he joins singer Coco Jones, 26, on stage in Los Angeles

Will Smith hasn’t released a full-length album in nearly 20 years, but on Thursday he took the stage in Los Angeles for a surprise performance of his 1991 hit, Summertime.

The 55-year-old entertainer, who performed a new song at this year’s BET Awards, attended an event celebrating the third season of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air spinoff, which is simply called Bel-Air, with singer Coco Jones, 26.

The drama series, which airs on Peacock, returns to the big screen on August 15.

To celebrate this milestone, the show hosted a barbecue with cast members at the Universal Studios Backlot.

Jones performed her latest single Here We Go before calling Smith, an executive producer on the show, to the stage.

Smith, whose wife is actress and media personality Jada Pinkett, wore a beige Prada shirt jacket and ivory pants.

His dark hair was neatly cut short and he looked handsome with a thin beard.

Jabari Banks, Olly Sholotan, Jimmy Akingbola, Adrian Holmes, Akira Akbar, Jordan L. Jones and Simone Joy Jones — who all star in Bel-Air — were also in attendance at the gathering.

Peacock unveiled the first teaser for the first season of the dramatic reboot in November 2021.

In the trailer, Will somberly narrated some original lyrics to the Fresh Prince theme song.

Banks, 26, plays the lead role of Will in the series, which is set in modern times and chronicles his “tangled journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air.”

The synopsis for season three reads: “Being part of the Banks family has given him a new perspective. It’s not just about the wealth, but it also means that Will now has the opportunity to focus on other things that excite him and the privilege of dreaming bigger.”

The story continues: ‘As Will takes a thrilling turn, he finds a partner in Carlton (Sholotan), who is desperate to leave his life of addiction behind and repair his damaged reputation.’

The summary continues: ‘While the dynamic duo achieves many exciting victories, their collaboration also reveals fundamental differences in their backgrounds and worldviews.’

It begs the question: Can a partnership with such extremes work?

The sketch continues: ‘The pressures at work and home will also pose a challenge for Viv (Cassandra Freeman) and Phil (Holmes). How does a couple cope when their lives are on the line?

‘Hilary’s (Jones) romantic journey with LaMarcus will encounter some shocking obstacles, Ashley’s (Akira Akbar) vision of romance will begin to blossom as she comes of age in the summer before high school, and Geoffrey’s (Akingbola) London past will get a little too personal.’
