Will Ferrell will star in his first TV show, a scripted comedy called Golf for Netflix.
News of the 56-year-old artist’s foray into television as a lead artist was revealed on Wednesday.
He will be one of the co-creators of the program along with Ramy Youssef and Josh Rabinowitz, according to Deadline.
The actor – who is currently set to appear alongside Reese Witherspoon in You’re Cordially Invitationed – will play a veteran golfer who becomes the face of a controversial new league.
Details about the character that 33-year-old Youssef will play are currently being kept under wraps.

News of the 56-year-old performer’s foray into television as a lead artist was revealed on Wednesday, and according to Deadline, he will be one of the show’s co-creators alongside Ramy Youssef and Josh Rabinowitz.
The show sees Ferrell return to the sports comedy genre, which he explored in Semi-Pro and Blades Of Glory.
Youssef and Rabinowitz will currently serve as the showrunners of the upcoming project.
The pair will also serve as executive producers of the show, alongside Step Brothers star and Glass Onion director Rian Johnson.
However, the filmmaker is not expected to write or direct the episodes of the upcoming show.
The actor is also an active golfer and has in the past hosted a charity tournament known as The Will Powered Golf Classic.
Golf will make its official debut on the Netflix streaming service at an unspecified time in the future.
Ferrell is also preparing for the release of the upcoming animated film Despicable Me 4, in which he will voice supervillain Maxime Le Mal.
The film will serve as a sequel to Despicable Me 3, which premiered in 2017.

The film returns Steve Carrell, Kristen Wiig and Steve Coogan as the voices of Gru, Lucy Wilde and Silas Ramsbottom, respectively.
The film’s cast is further expanded with artists such as Sofia Vergara, Miranda Cosgrove and Stephen Colbert.
Pharrell Williams, who wrote the hit song Happy for the second film in the animated franchise, will also return to provide musical contributions for the film.
Despicable Me 4 will be released in the United States on July 3.
