Wilko could disappear from the high street if potential bidders want to suck up his stores

Wilko clashed with administration last week, putting 400 stores and 12,000 jobs at risk

Wilko could disappear from the High Street as potential post-collapse bidders look to suck up his shops for their own brands.

The discount household goods chain collapsed in administration last week, putting 400 stores and 12,000 jobs at risk.

PwC administrators today set a deadline for suitors to submit their bids to bail out the stricken company.

But it is uncertain whether the Wilko brand will survive. Potential buyers include rivals B&M European Value Retail, Poundland, The Range and Home Bargains.

These brands are believed to be in talks to pick up all or some of the stores to add to their own estates.

Hargreaves Lansdown’s Susannah Streeter said the likelihood of a full takeover was ‘considered slim’ due to Wilko’s dangerous position in the beleaguered High Street.
