The Montreal Canadiens capped their Tuesday night game against the Nashville Predators on one of the most bizarre goals you will ever see.
Within six seconds, the Predators went from leading 2-0 over the visiting Canadiens to tying the score, thanks to a rare deflection off the glass into an open net.
A face-off took place at center ice, with Montreal’s Nick Suzuki winning, handing the ball to teammate Cole Caufield.
Caufield did the routine thing and pushed the puck back to his defenseman, David Savard.
Savard wanted to get the puck into Montreal’s offensive zone and lifted the puck into the glass a yard away. It hit the plexiglass plates in such a way that it went straight into the net.
The Canadiens took advantage of one of the weirdest goals in NHL history against the Predators
Predators goaltender Juuse Saros stood behind the net he was guarding, trying to figure out the puck’s normal path.
By the time Saros realized he was out of position, it was too late and the puck crossed the goal line.
The whole sequence started after Brendan Gallagher got Montreal on the board, and the bizarre goal completely changed the momentum of the match.
“I don’t know exactly how that’s physically possible,” Predators star Filip Forsberg said, per The Tennessean. “Because it goes straight into the net and straight into the net.”
Without the bizarre goal, the Canadiens will not score a point against the Predators. Instead, they won the game in overtime on a Suzuki marker.
