Wild theory why Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s shock divorce is actually a good thing – as the couple split after four years

Joe Jonas has officially filed for divorce from wife Sophie Turner after four years of marriage.

And while fans of the couple are heartbroken, Australian radio star Kyle Sandilands thinks the couple should be congratulated for ending things so quickly.

‘You know what? You, you can’t blame this young generation. They’re a little wiser than our parents,” the 52-year-old told his co-host Jackie “O” Henderson on The Kyle And Jackie O Show on Wednesday.

‘Our parents have been through a lot of misery and have simply stayed together for far too long. Hating each other, not creating a great home environment,” says Sandilands, who previously said he was scarred by his own parents’ divorce when he was 10.

“These youngsters say, ‘Oh, I’m done with you,’ ‘Yeah, I’m done with you, too. Well, let’s sign the papers. Anyway, we’ll be friends and we’ll see each other at the MTV Awards and, yes, goodbye!” he said.

“I think they’re doing it the right way,” he added.

Sandilands went through his own divorce from ex-wife Tamara Jaber after two years of marriage in 2010.

Jonas, 34, filed for divorce from his wife Turner, 27, on Tuesday, stating in the paperwork that their relationship is ‘irretrievably broken’.

The singer filed the paperwork to end his marriage to the Game of Thrones actress in a Miami Dade County courtroom on Tuesday — hours after it was revealed he had hired a divorce attorney.

Court documents obtained by DailyMail.com show that Jonas stated his marriage to Turner, with whom he has two children, is “irretrievably broken” – detailing the former couple’s plans to seek custody of their three-year-old daughter Willa and their children to share. a year-old daughter, whose name they have not revealed.

The paperwork lists Willa by her initials, WJ, and references their other daughter’s name, citing her as DJ

In the request for dissolution of the marriage, Jonas’ lawyer states: ‘It is in the interest of the minor children that the parties share parental responsibility.’

Jonas “respectfully” requests in the documents that he and Turner “create a parenting plan” and a “timeshare schedule,” with Willa and DJ’s primary residence being Miami, Florida, where he and Turner had lived.

The documents also state that the parties “entered into a valid and enforceable prenuptial agreement” on April 29, 2019 — days before they tied the knot in Las Vegas.

Jonas’ lawyer has not included the prenuptial agreement in the divorce petition to “protect the privacy rights of both parties,” but the documents further suggest he has no plans to file for child support from Turner, stating: “Both parties have ability to provide support for the minor children and both of them should be expected to contribute to the support of the minor children.’

Jonas is being represented in the divorce by West Palm Beach-based attorney Thomas J. Sasser, while Turner’s business manager, Carrie Malcolm, is listed in the paperwork as her main point of contact.

Sasser is in demand as a lawyer to the stars and was previously hired to handle Tiger Woods’ high-profile divorce from his wife Elin Nordegren in 2010. The Swedish model received a $100 million settlement from the professional golfer.

Sasser, a managing partner at Florida-based law firm Sasser, Cestero & Roy, also represented NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon during his divorce from his wife, model Brooke Sealey, in 2003. He was reportedly hired by Gisele Bundchen during her divorce from NFL star Tom Brady last October.

Jonas’ decision to hire Sasser comes after he was pictured on Aug. 11 not wearing his wedding ring.

However, for a performance with his brothers in Austin, Texas, on September 3, he was firmly on his finger again and Turner would be at the concert.

Details about what happened between the two are scarce, but they haven't been seen together in public in months, and they were last photographed together in April.

The couple, who first started dating in 2016 after being introduced by mutual friends, got engaged a year later and flaunted their upcoming nuptials on Instagram with similar captions like “I said yes” and “She said yes.”

Jonas and Turner tied the knot two years after getting engaged in two ceremonies – the first, an intimate private affair in Las Vegas with a second, grander wedding in Paris, and seemed like a perfectly happy couple.

Turner opened up about her husband in an interview with Jimmy Fallon in May 2022, saying she knew almost immediately he was the one.

When Fallon asked Turner when she knew she would marry Jonas, she replied, “I mean the first night I met him,” before going into detail about the date in question.

When the TV presenter asked if they’d had a first date at her place, the redhead replied, “He didn’t come over, no, I’m not that forward. We went out and we hung out at a bar with, say, all my friends, and all his friends, and then they all came back to my apartment and then we had a few drinks.”

In a separate interview in 2022, Turner talked about their living situation after the couple decided to move from Los Angeles to Miami in September 2021.

While Turner admitted that they were “very happy living in Miami,” she told Elle magazine that it would be better for her “mental health” if they moved to the UK – where she is from.

Speaking to the publication, Turner said: ‘I miss England so much. The people, the attitude, everything. I slowly drag my husband back.

“I really enjoy living in America. But for my mental health I need to be around my friends and family. And also for my daughter: I would like her to have the education and school life that I was so lucky to have.

“England would ideally be the final destination,” she added, before admitting, “But (Joe) might take some persuasion!”
