This is the shocking moment a car thief crashed a Bentley he was trying to steal into a yellow taxi, before lying down in front of a bus and then jumping onto the roof of a passing SUV.
A concerned passerby filmed the incident, which took place around 11 a.m. Sunday on the South West Corner of Broadway & West 55th Street in downtown Manhattan.
The disturbing footage shows the Bentley owner attempting to regain control of his car from the thief, who then crashes the luxury vehicle into the sidewalk and a nearby yellow taxi.
The alleged thief, later named by police as Terrence Brooks, 37, appears to remove himself from the crashed car and walk unsteadily into the street before sitting in front of a bus on the road.

A crowd is seen surrounding the wreckage and several pedestrians call on the driver not to move the bus as there is a person sitting in front of the wheels.
A policewoman arrives on the scene and approaches Brooks on the ground, who then quickly jumps to his feet while shouting unintelligibly.
Brooks is then seen jumping on top of a black SUV driving down the street.
NYPD officers gather around the vehicle and beg the thief to “get down.”
The irate driver is seen getting out of the vehicle and helping to pull the man off the hood after seeing him crack his windshield.
The irate driver also punches the man as he lies on the bonnet of the car before being arrested by police.
The driver throws his hands in the air in frustration.

Shortly afterwards, an ambulance arrives on the scene, while police officers are seen tending to at least two pedestrians sitting on the ground near the original crash site.
“He stole that car while the driver was trying to get him out and he almost killed four people,” a pedestrian can be heard explaining in the video.
“There were people in the taxi too, which is crazy,” he added.
An NYPD spokesperson said the “victim alleges he was parked at the above location when a suspect approached him and placed the victim in fear for his safety and caused the victim to exit his vehicle.”
“The suspect then entered the vehicle and fled westbound on 55th Street, colliding with a taxi and a parked vehicle.”
