Wild moment wedding guests brawl with cops – with one woman seen KICKING officer at venue in Rhode Island

Bodycam footage captured the moment a group of six people confronted Rhode Island police, with one woman kicking an officer in the groin while another guest was knocked unconscious — all during a wedding party.

Newport police officers were called to The Landing, a seafood restaurant on Bowen’s Wharf, around 1 a.m. Sunday.

They responded to a call about a man who allegedly tried to punch one employee and push another while being denied entry as an “unwanted party.”

The man was identified as 44-year-old David Onik of Barrington, Rhode Island. As police questioned David, his friends began crowding around the officers and were repeatedly told to back off.

When they refused to listen, police tried to arrest Rachael Onik, 41, but she tripped and fell to the ground.

This prompted the group of friends to lunge at the officers, causing an all-out brawl with one woman repeatedly reaching for an officer’s gun.

Newport Police Sergeant Stephen Carrig, who was allegedly assaulted amid the commotion, provided a written statement account of what happened.

He said he saw fellow Officer Cole talking to staff and Officer White standing next to David Onik.

Cole told him that David had pushed an employee at the Landing and tried to hit another employee.

At that point, David began pointing ‘aggressively’ at staff members, prompting Carrig to walk over and handcuff him. Carrig told Rachael and Alexandra Flaherty, 31, to back up and told David he was being detained.

While Carrig spoke with Cole to determine if any of the employees wanted to press charges, Rachael walked over to David and started talking to him. David’s sister-in-law joined her. Carrig again told the women to stand back.

Rachael pulled away, but tried to talk to David again moments later. Carrig said she prevented them from “investigating the incident at The Landing.”

He grabbed Rachael’s right upper arm and began moving her away from David to arrest her. As he pulled her away, she tripped and fell on an uneven surface.

“I was immediately attacked by a blonde woman wearing a white dress and black jacket who pushed me,” Carrig wrote in the report. “I pushed her back to create distance.”

He grabbed the woman’s arm and walked her to the wall of a nearby building where he prepared to arrest her. He said several people then started pushing him from behind.

When he turned to push them away, he was attacked by Alexandra, who is seen on video wearing an orange dress and aiming a kick at his groin. Carrig retaliated by punching Alexandra in the face.

According to other officers, she was knocked unconscious and later taken to the hospital to treat injuries to her jaw, head and elbows.

Carrig said he was then punched in the face, causing him to fall and hit the back of his head on the ground.

He was allegedly attacked by 30-year-old Robert Nash of Marshfield, Massachusetts.

Officers Cole and White ran to Nash to handcuff him. Before they could do that, Cole wrote in his own letter rackHe felt someone grab his gun. Reflexively, he turned and delivered a punch that struck Rachel’s right jaw. She was knocked unconscious.

The bodycam footage shows Carrig falling to the ground after Nash punches him. The other officers come to his aid.

“My vision became extremely blurry to the point where I couldn’t concentrate on anything or even see people,” he wrote. ‘I couldn’t tell which way was up or down for several seconds, leaving me completely defenseless.’

When the officer was able to get to his feet, he called for additional units.

He pulled Alexandra against the wall to arrest her, but Olivia Costello, 20, got in the way. Another officer grabbed Alexandra while Carrig handcuffed Olivia.

‘Blood poured into my mouth and dripped from my nose’ Carrig wrote. He complained of throbbing pain and was later taken to Newport Hospital.
