A documentary about a Premier League star who allegedly led a double life with a second woman he met in Iran has left viewers stunned.

The show tells the story of Jlloyd Samuel, who played for Aston Villa and Bolton in the Premier League in the 2000s before moving to Iran.

Samuel was also loaned out to Gillingham and Cardiff, and when he returned from Iran he joined Egerton as player-manager.

However, he died in May 2018 at the age of 37 when his Range Rover collided with a van after dropping his children off at school.

His life and death were included in the 2022 ITV documentary ‘The Footballer, His Wife, and the Crash’, which was released on Netflix a few days ago.

In the documentary, his ex-wife Emma Pritchard claims Samuel had ‘another life’ in Iran with a second wife, whom he converted to Islam to marry.

“I was trying to grieve my husband and discover that he has another life. Who is my husband – do I really know him?’ she said.

Pritchard had even met the other women on a trip to Dubai, but she had introduced herself as a fortune teller.

This second wife was singer Helia Sahimi, whom Samuel once called “the best husband I could ever ask for.”

Emma, mother of Samuel’s three children, was said to be in shock when she learned of their relationship.
