Wife of British holidaymaker, 69, who disappeared without a trace on Greek island two years ago, ‘still looking for answers’

- Heide Wolstenhulme believes her husband has ‘gone through the ground’
The wife of a British holidaymaker who disappeared on a Greek island two years ago said she is still seeking answers about her husband’s whereabouts.
Heide Wolstenhulme lives in a nightmare after her husband, 69-year-old David, who has been married for 40 years, disappeared without a trace on the island of Serifos in June 2021.
Mr. Wolstenhulme, an experienced walker, had gone for a walk with just enough euros to pay for the day, but never returned.
“It’s been two years now since Dave disappeared and no one can find anything,” she told the Sun.
“I’d like him to be alive. I just can’t imagine he is because he had nowhere to go.

The couple from Skipton, North Yorkshire, flew to Greece from Manchester on June 11, 2021 and stayed in Athens before island hopping and landing in Serifos to celebrate a friend’s birthday.
But the nightmare started when Mr. Wolstenhulme went for a walk on June 25 and never returned.
Ms Wolstenhulme told the publication she was concerned when he didn’t come home after 5pm – and alerted local authorities.
A massive search was launched, but despite the help of the locals, no trace of him was ever found.
Also adding to the mystery is that are credit and debit cards not used since the day he disappeared.

Mrs Wolstenhulme revealed her own heart-wrenching theory about her husband’s disappearance, believing him to have ‘gone through the ground’ due to the presence of ‘old mines in the area’.
She said, ‘I just can’t understand where he went. I have a terrible feeling that it went through the ground because there are some old mines around.
“I just wonder if the ground has given way — that’s a horrible thought.”
Mrs. Wolstenhulme is convinced that something bad has happened to her husband and that he did not disappear of his own accord as they had ferry tickets for the next day.
She also said that David may not have “stayed on the trails” and claimed that local authorities were not broad enough in their search.
To this day, her husband has not been pronounced dead as he is still believed to be missing.
