Wife is left mortified after her husband takes an innocent bathroom break at the pub – and she’s not the only one
A young woman recently experienced an ’embarrassing’ encounter that some are describing as every woman’s ‘worst nightmare’ in public – and she’s not alone.
The anonymous Australian was dancing with her husband, but when he went to the toilet, strangers ran up to her and asked if she was being harassed.
Comedians and former Triple J presenters Matt Okine and Alex Dyson shared the anecdote on their All Day Breakfast podcast.
The hosts had gone out for dinner with the couple in question, who had then ventured elsewhere for an after-meal dance party.
“This is how you ruin a stranger’s night,” Matt said, adding that the pair called the awkward encounter “the worst thing that happened.”
‘The couple are dancing in this pub, the song is over and [the husband] goes to the toilet.
‘[The wife] sits down and some girls come up to her and say, “Hey, if you need rescue from that guy, let us know.”
The woman couldn’t believe that a bunch of strangers assumed she was being harassed by her significant other whose only crime may have been a few over-enthusiastic dance moves.

“Some Good Samaritans saw the situation and obviously thought he was harassing that lady,” Alex laughed.
“The guy isn’t sure what to do or how to move forward from this point,” Matt said.
“Those girls felt sorry for that poor, poor woman who was subjected to the advances of this sleaze.”
Many other Australian women reported similar instances of their husbands being reprimanded in public.
“On vacation there was a guy playing music in the restaurant where we were drinking and he started playing my favorite song so I ran up to get a seat in the front,” one person recalled.
‘My very drunk husband followed shortly after and started pestering me to dance with him, which I didn’t want to do. The musician stopped playing and yelled at my husband to leave me alone and let me enjoy the song.
“Bless him for being so chivalrous and trying to stand up for me!”
Another said: ‘This happened to me! A girl whispered to me, “Don’t go home with him” and I thought… I live with him. We are married.’
One man wrote: ‘If I were her I would laugh about that for weeks. But it’s not so funny when you realize that women have to do that for each other.’
A few men joked about the encounter.
“This will probably happen to my wife someday,” one person wrote.
“The way my jaw dropped,” a second added.
“Devastating,” said another. “I would like to thank them for looking after her, they deserve a round for that.”
