- Viewers quickly jumped to the defense of the waitress
A waitress has revealed the shocking moment she received a “tip” from an angry customer — as her expected 20 percent bonus was instead an irate note that read, “Don’t call my husband sweetheart.”
The irate note, which was shared on photo platform Imgur before quickly spreading on social media, came after the waitress handed the couple a $32.76 bill.
Instead of the $6 or so she expected, the tip field was filled with the ominous warning.
The image was posted with the caption, “Well it may be a tip but she’s just trying to make a living.”
Social media jumped to the defense of a waitress after her only ‘tip’ after serving a couple was, ‘Don’t call my husband sweetheart’
The tirade left people scratching their heads, with many feeling like calling someone “sweetie.”
“In the US South, everyone is called honey, honey, honey, and my personal favorite is sugar,” said one commenter.
“Do you know how many times I’ve been called honey, honey, or sweetheart by a waitress?” added another one.
‘Well, not much. But when it happens, it’s always because it’s so in their vocabulary that they say that to everyone. It’s just how they end certain sentences. I haven’t thought much about it.’
Some also believed that there was likely a backstory behind the altercation that the waitress was unaware of, and that she was a bystander to a hostile moment.
“What an insecure b****,” said a surprised viewer.
As an aside, tipping should be abolished. Pay your staff a living wage. Servers shouldn’t be held hostage by assholes like this woman.’
