A heartbroken widow has made a heartbreaking plea after recalling hearing the sound of the crash that tragically killed her husband near home.
Dylan Stokes, 34, was on his way to the IGA to buy superglue when his motorbike was involved in a collision with a silver Nissan Dualis on Burpengary Road at Narangba, north of Brisbane, last Friday night.
He could not be resuscitated.
His wife Alana was waiting for him at home when the accident happened, on their 16-month wedding anniversary.
Four days after the tragedy, Mrs Stokes made an emotional appeal to all road users.
“I heard the bang. It was a minute from home,” she said Courier post.
‘I want people to pay close attention to whether there are any motorcycles passing by and to do so again before they exit a side street.’
Her husband is known as an avid motorcyclist and as a “great” stepfather to her 11-year-old son Elijah.

“Dylan was absolutely amazing. Our neighbours called him the neighbourhood watchman because he spent so much time in the garage working on his bike, fixing something or making something,” said Mrs Stokes.
The male driver of the Nissan and his female passenger, both 21, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
The duo from Caboolture are helping police with their investigation.
A friend has a GoFundMe page to raise money to organize the farewell that Mr Stokes deserves.
“My dear friend Alana lost her husband last night, September 13, 2024, just 16 months before their wedding,” Meagan Wilkes wrote.
“He was in a motorcycle accident. He didn’t make it home to his wife Alana and Elijah. He will be missed dearly.
Mrs Stokes issued a heartbreaking appeal after the tragedy: ‘I want people to check for motorbikes and to double check before they pull out of a side street.’ The couple are pictured
“Alana is now a single mother. Please help her say goodbye to her newlywed husband. And to support her and Elijah financially.”
The fundraiser has already raised more than $7,000.
Mr Stokes was one of three people killed on the road in south-east Queensland on Friday night.
