Why you should NEVER buy a plane ticket if you see this symbol online

A travel expert has shared what to look for when booking flights, including the symbol to avoid.

“If you ever see this symbol in your Google flight searches, don’t book until you watch this video,” says travel enthusiast Dan, who posts under the username @tripdealsdan, warned in a recent clip.

Dan explained that if you see a flight with a red warning symbol, you should check the flight details carefully.

The content creator – who said he “loves” Google flights for finding deals – emphasized that you should be careful if something seems too good to be true.

“It’s very important when you see this symbol, it’s important to pay attention to what it’s trying to warn you about,” he explained.

Dan went on to say that there are four reasons why you may see this symbol when looking at flights.

One reason is that there is a long layover and may even require a hotel room for the night.

‘It’s very important to think about it because you wouldn’t want to be in it [airport] so long,” he noted.

He explained that when you leave the airport you may need a visa depending on where you are.

“You are no longer a transit passenger, but you are entering the country,” he reminded viewers.

The second reason for the symbol could be that the flight is changing airports.

Using an example flight from Perth, Australia, to Vancouver, Canada, Dan pointed out that there is an inter-airport transfer from Narita to Haneda Airports in Tokyo.

“You’ll probably have to do this alone,” he said. “Sometimes airlines have a free shuttle or something, but in this case they warn you that there will be a connection at some point.”

“Again,” he noted. ‘You may need a visa for that transit, because you are no longer at the airport.’

He added: “This flight may not be as convenient as it seems.”

Dan also warned that mixed huts are also possible. He explained that if you book business class, for example, this does not apply to all parts of the flight.

In the example he shows, the first leg is economy, despite it being a business class ticket.

“So be wary of that before buying tickets that may seem too good to be true,” he warned.

“This can happen on all airlines in all classes,” he added.

The last reason is that the flight takes place at night, or you arrive at your destination on a different date than the date you departed.

“So it’s a warning,” Dan concluded the video.
