Why an unlikely $4 item from Kmart Australia is flying off shelves: ‘I’m internally screaming’

  • Kmart Australia has left shoppers running over its new organizational item
  • The foldable crates have arrived in stores – and are available in different sizes

A $4 purchase at Kmart Australia flew off the shelves, with many shoppers calling it the ultimate organizing item of the year.

The collapsible crates have hit stores and are available in three different sizes, including small (5L) for $4, medium (15L) for $6 and large (30L) for $10.

They come in different colors – green, lilac, blue and red – making them ‘aesthetically pleasing’ when organizing things around the home.

Shopper Lauren Sissons bought several crates to organize her children’s playroom, bathroom toiletries and even her office supplies.

“Kmart just found the cutest storage solution,” she said in the video.

‘Obsessed with these new foldable crates. They are these two-tone stackable plastic crates. I love that they collapse and that they come in three different sizes.

‘Perfect for the home, playroom, toiletries or adding a pop of colour.’

Lauren bought a stack of crates so she could keep her things organized at home.

“I love all the colors, it was too hard to choose,” she said, showing off all the colors she had purchased.

‘They’re actually sturdier than the others I’ve bought before. Will see how they hold up.

‘I have two medium ones because I like to use them in the nursery, on the playroom shelf and in my office for storage. I keep them under our bathroom sink for toiletries and skin care.”

The mother explained that she needed storage solutions to store all her inventory and supplies for her small business.

“I was looking for something exactly like this to sort my office and inventory,” she said.

‘I made sure I knew what was going into it, because I always tried to buy consciously.’

Her video has been viewed more than 200,000 times, with many saying they were ‘running’ to Kmart to stock up on the organizational item.

‘I got some today. LOVE the new colorways,” one person enthused.

“Yes, I saw this and was internally screaming. So cute and useful,” said another.

“Run to Kmart today,” someone said.

‘They’re so cute. The colors are stunning,” another added.

While others shared how they use the items for the organization.

“I have this in my trunk for groceries,” said one, prompting another to describe the shopper’s idea as “genius.”

‘No, I’m taking these groceries with me. Just slap them in the cart,” another suggested.
