Straining marital relationships may not have been Elon Musk’s intention when he changed Twitter to “X.”
But one user joked that he was forced to “sleep on the couch” after his spouse misinterpreted the new name for X’s subscription service on their credit card statement.
Alex Cohen (@anothercohen) from Texas posted a screenshot of a message he received from his wife about a charge on their credit card on “X Premium.”
As part of Musk’s rebranding, Twitter Blue – the monthly subscription service – has been changed to “X Premium,” which users say “sounds like a porn site.”
Another user said it seems like the staff at Musk and X go to great lengths to make it look like you’re paying for porn.

Cohen’s tweet, which received more than 80,000 likes, shows his wife’s post saying, “Um, what’s “X Premium” for $8/month on the Chase card?”
He replied, “…how do I explain this” and posted the screenshot of the conversation with the caption “I’m sleeping on the couch tonight.”
Other users online have made comparisons to the name of the new subscription service and questionable X-rated websites.
One of them said, “Imagine having to explain to your partner that X Premium is not a porn site.”
Another posted: ‘Can’t believe they actually call it X Premium. Who wants that on their bank statement? It’s like they’ve gone out of their way to make it look like you’re paying for porn.

X Premium – or Twitter Blue as it used to be known – costs from $8 / £9.60 per month and gives users access to exclusive features that non-paying users can’t access.
These include the ability to edit tweets, undo a tweet immediately after posting, and post tweets of up to 25,000 characters.
Subscribers also get a coveted blue checkmark next to their account name to indicate that they are ‘verified’.

To the chagrin of many, features that used to be free to users are now becoming X Premium exclusives, such as the ability to send a direct message (DM) to someone you don’t follow.
Musk also said this weekend that only X Premium subscribers can monetize their posts.
Users who get enough impressions on their posts are entitled to a share of X’s advertising revenue – as long as they are over 18 years old with at least 500 followers and are X Premium subscribers.
Musk took over Twitter in October and changed its name to X as part of the first steps towards making it an “everything” app.
This app could one day include social networking as well as online services and utilities such as ridesharing, finance, food delivery and more.
The billionaire said, “Twitter was acquired by X Corp, both to safeguard freedom of speech and as an accelerator for X, the everything app.”

However, it was removed just over 48 hours later due to complaints from local residents and because it violated the city’s permitting orders.
Also this weekend, Musk said his company will foot the bill for anyone “treated unfairly” by his employer for liking posts on X.
