A mother has issued an urgent warning after she was ‘shivered’ as her young daughter almost choked while using a regular children’s food bowl.
Laci, from Texas, fed her daughter scrambled eggs in a flexible silicone bowl with a suction cup, which was used to prevent children from throwing their plates and bowls on the floor.
However, within seconds the child had fused the bowl over her face, rendering her unable to breathe, and the mother had to frantically remove it before she suffocated.
She said she is grateful that she paid close attention and was able to take action once the bowl got stuck, but she fears what could have happened if she was distracted while washing dishes or cleaning the kitchen just a few steps away. meters away.
The mother of three had been taking pictures of her daughter when the incident unfolded – in the last photo you can see the bowl being sucked onto her head – her chest and throat collapsed as she screamed.
Laci said she felt “ridiculously awful” about the incident and that it never occurred to her that the popular bowls could be so dangerous.

‘Thank God she was only out of air for a few seconds. This could have been horrible if I hadn’t literally watched it happen. And it happened so quickly!’ she said.
In a Facebook post, Laci said she saw her daughter enjoying her food and laughing and taking pictures as she made a mess and put the bowl in front of her face.
‘She placed her head in her socket and it immediately sucked perfectly to her face. The bowl was slippery and greasy from the food. As I reached over the island to pull it off, my hands slipped off the socket,” the post said.
‘With every scream she made, the bowl was sucked tighter and tighter. I ran around the island and was able to put my fingers under the socket to break the seal and finally free her.”
The bowls have a suction cup on the bottom that sticks to a high chair tray so kids don’t throw them on the floor. The bowl is usually made of the same flexible silicone as the suction cup.

Laci said her daughter’s bowl, an unknown brand, did not suck properly on the high chair and lifted easily.
‘The last photo was unintentional. I didn’t pause to take a picture of her who couldn’t breathe,” the mother added.
‘I immediately ran to her aid when I realized it had been sucked into her face.’
The baby was ‘terrified’ and ‘shaken’ after the incident and the mother said she ‘shuddered’ at the thought of not being able to breathe even for the short time she was trapped.
‘Perhaps I should have already considered this as a possibility and perhaps there have already been reports about this that I was not aware of. “I haven’t been a ‘new’ mom in years, and my big kids didn’t have these bowls,” Laci said.
‘I’ve been known to throw kitchen items for my babies to play with (wooden spoons, cups, Tupperware) while I’m washing the dishes to keep them occupied as they like to hang at my feet. What if I had tossed her HER bowl and I missed this?’
Laci said she feels “ridiculously awful” about the incident and will never use the suction cups again.
Her post caught the attention of mothers and fathers around the world, many of whom were grateful for the potentially life-saving advice.
‘Thanks for sharing, I can’t imagine how scared you must have been! I’m so glad she’s doing well! I am a new mother after nine years and am using these bowls for the first time. “I never thought that would be a danger,” one woman said.
‘I could never have imagined this in a million years. You are an amazing mother and there is no way you could have predicted this,” wrote another.
‘Crazy! We have the shallow version of this with a smaller diameter. I’m definitely going to take a closer look at them than our children. Thanks for the realization and glad you’re okay,” a third replied.
Most parents were just as shocked as Laci.
“I have the exact same bowl and never imagined this would happen – thanks for sharing,” one mother wrote.
