A Woolworths customer was left baffled after the wrong price was displayed on the screen at the checkout, with the supermarket blaming a technical glitch.
The customer took photos from the checkout screen at the Woolworths Macarthur Metro store in Brisbane.
The screen showed that the total cost was $17.90, even though the man himself had calculated that the groceries should have only been $15.90.
The confused customer posted the photo to Reddit on Saturday, leaving other customers confused as to why the machine had made the mistake.
“I was annoyed that the amount I was charged for my Woolies purchase did not reflect the individual items I purchased,” the customer wrote.

The customer warned others to look out for such errors.
“I hope you guys won’t abuse ‘colesworth’ again amid all the already high prices,” he said.
The Brisbane shopper said he doesn’t always add up his shopping totals, but he wanted to check this time because there weren’t many items so the total “looked strange”.
The customer asked the staff about the difference and they ‘double checked’ his calculations before arriving at the same total as he did.
The staff took the mangoes from the man’s total and gave them to him for free.
“I ended up paying $14.10 (when I just checked my bank details), which I just paid and didn’t think twice,” he wrote.
A Woolworths spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia that the price of $17.90 was factually correct and that the price of the mangoes was incorrectly displayed on the screen.
‘The mango price of 80 cents per piece that appeared on the screen was incorrect due to a technical error. They were on sale for $1.90 each,” they said.
A Woolworths spokesperson has since told Daily Mail Australia that the $17.90 price was factually correct, but the incorrect retail price of mangoes was shown.
“We understand why this customer was concerned and apologize for any confusion caused.”
Daily Mail Australia believes Calypso mangoes are currently priced at $3 and the technical glitch was related to the unit price, which reflected an incorrect retail price.
However, the man’s store’s total was arrived at using the correct retail price of the mangoes.
“Our team resolved this with the customer in store and provided the mangoes free of charge,” the Woolworths spokesperson said.
“This appears to be an isolated incident at our Macarthur Metro store involving the clearance price of a batch of our Calypso mangoes.”
