Why Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are under fire for flying Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky on a military jet

The Biden-Harris administration is facing a bipartisan investigation by Republicans in Congress after the Ukrainian president was transported on taxpayer-funded “campaign flights.”

The GOP outrage came after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited a munitions factory in Scranton, Pennsylvania, during a pro-Kamala Harris campaign rally after paying U.S. taxpayer money.

During the visit, the European leader made comments that Republicans said were disparaging towards Donald Trump and Senator JD Vance.

Zelensky reportedly called Senator J.D. Vance (Republican of Ohio), Trump’s running mate and a frequent critic of US involvement in the war between Ukraine and Russia, “too radical.”

He was photographed with Gov. Josh Shapiro, a top deputy to Harris, signing 155mm artillery shells that will be flown to Ukraine to fight Russia.

The Keystone State is widely seen as a crucial milestone in the exciting presidential election. Almost all roads to victory run through this state.

In an effort to determine whether the taxpayer-funded trip was a campaign event, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Kentucky) sent letters Wednesday to two senior Cabinet officials requesting information, saying the incident could amount to election interference.

The letters, sent to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Attorney General Merrick Garland, cast doubt on US funding for Zelensky’s trip.

The memo to Austin specifically notes that Zelensky flew on a taxpayer-funded US military aircraft.

“The Committee seeks to understand the circumstances that led the Biden-Harris administration to transport President Zelensky on a Department of the Air Force aircraft to Pennsylvania to introduce administration officials to President Zelensky about the war between Russia and Ukraine, and the facts that might justify doing so,” Comer wrote to Austin.

“Because Department of the Air Force resources were used in this apparent If there is a campaign event that has led to possible interference in the federal election, the committee requests information from the Department of Defense.

The Kentucky Republican’s letter to Garland, on the other hand, focused more on the Justice Department’s commitment to rooting out election interference.

“Because the Department of Justice (DOJ), under your leadership, is heavily focused on To combat foreign interference in the election, the Committee calls on the Department of Justice to revise the Biden-Harris Act Government coordination with the Ukrainian government regarding President Zelensky’s measures “My Itinerary in America,” wrote Comer.

“You recently stated that the Justice Department will be ‘relentlessly aggressive’ countering and disrupting attempts by Russia and Iran, as well as by China or other foreign malign actor—meddling in our elections and undermining our democracy.”

The Committee believes that no foreign actor – regardless of whether it is deemed “malicious” by the Department of Justice – should be allowed to to interfere in the American elections.’

The letter also cites “critical” comments made by the Ukrainian president about the trip, which were reported by The New Yorker.

After Zelensky called Vance “too radical,” he also reportedly said he did not believe Trump could come up with a solution to end the war in the country.

Trump has often pointed out in his campaign that he can bring about a resolution to the conflict. The Republican Party was not pleased with Zelensky’s suggestion that the former president would not be able to do so.

Comer also referenced another scandal Zelensky was previously involved in that impacted the US election.

In 2019, the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives impeached President Donald Trump J. Trump charged with abuse of power on theory that he attempted to use a foreign leader – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky – to support his 2020 presidential campaign despite a “No evidence of wrongdoing by President Trump.”

The Committee wants to determine whether Biden-The Harris administration attempted to use a foreign leader to favor Vice President Harris’ position. “He has ended his campaign for president and, if that is the case, he necessarily abused his power,” Comer said.

Comer gave both cabinet officials until October 2 to hand over material on Zelensky’s travels.
