Why India and Pakistan fans are fighting over bat Travis Head used in World Test Championship
Why fans from India and Pakistan are arguing over bat rumor Aussie star Travis Head used to score stunning century in World Test Championship final
- Head crushed 163 runs to put India to the sword
- There has been online discussion about the bat he used
- Pakistani cricket fans take some of the credit
The cricket bat used by Travis Head to plunder 163 runs in the World Test Championship final has gone viral with old foes India and Pakistan bickering over its origins.
Head scored his first-ever century away from home soil on Wednesday to put India to the sword at England’s The Oval in promising signs for the Aussies ahead of The Ashes.
But Pakistani cricket supporters claim their own champion Babar Azam contributed to Head’s rise in the WTC final.
A vision has arisen that Azam Head appears to gift a huge cricket bat into the sheds during the 2021/22 tour of Pakistan.
Now jubilant Pakistan supporters say Head used the same bat with new decals to knock India around the ground at The Oval.
“Babar donated his bat to Travis Head in 2021 and the rest is history,” one fan boasted.
‘Babar Azam is a real gem and his performance deserves all the praise and attention. He’s definitely someone to watch out for,” said another over a video of Azam handing over the bat.
“Only Babar Azam can make them do this for him through his performance,” another commented.
“That’s why Babar is GOAT of world cricket,” another fan wrote.
Rumor has it that the bat used by Travis Head to fend off 163 of the Indian attack (pictured) is said to have been given to him by Pakistani captain Babar Azam
Pakistani fans who rejoiced at the bat did not go down well with Indian cricket supporters.
The two nations have a long history of conflict outside of cricket and fierce on-field rivalry, so Indian supporters were quick to fire back at their old rivals who mocked them for being beaten in the first innings of the WTC final.
Yes, Pakistan will play WTC final against Australia. Babar’s captaincy and batting took them to the final,” one sarcastic fan wrote with a series of crying emojis.
“But Pakistan will never come to the WTC final, they will only see India play in the final crying,” another wrote.
“How many centuries or fifties has Babar [at The] Oval,” another posted with a series of laughing emojis, referring to the fact that Azam has never played at the famous London stadium.

There were also numerous memes and sleighs in Hindi and Urdu between the old rivals.
The India Post reported that it could not be confirmed whether Head’s bat is the same as the one he received from the Pakistani star.
Meanwhile, a photo has surfaced on social media. Babar Azam can be seen in the picture where it is claimed that Babar donated a bat to Head and with this bat he scored a century against India,” they reported.
“Looking at the photo, it looks like this bat was given to him by Babar, but it’s hard to confirm from the photo that it’s the same bat. This viral photo has caused panic on social media.”
