Why do glamorous socialites who marry aristocrats never show their husbands? Stars like Emma Weymouth and Kitty Spencer share photos from glamor trips around the world, but their partners are never photographed

Lavish parties, grand estates, rubbing shoulders with world leaders… it's not unusual for aristocrats to have lavish Instagram profiles that show they're living the high life and traveling the world.

The likes of Lady Kitty Spencer, Emma Weymouth and Mary Charteris have amassed hundreds of thousands of followers thanks to their stunning looks, lavish lives and friendships with A-listers.

But often missing from the social profiles of many socialites are their spouses.

Princess Diana's niece Kitty Spencer, 32, had an ultra-luxurious wedding to her South African-born multimillionaire husband Michael Lewis, 64, in 2021.

The royal and invited A-listers came to Villa Aldobrandini in Frascati, a beautiful country house with views towards Rome.

The celebrations stretched over four days and were attended by close friends including pop star Pixie Lott and the Marchioness of Bath. It's no surprise that thousands of photos were taken.

Many snaps were also shared on social mediaperhaps not unusual for Kitty, who has more than 723,000 followers and is a regular poster on Instagram.

But out of more than 2,000 photos shared online, Kitty has only shared one photo of Michael, a photo of them walking down the aisle on her wedding day.

So why is it so unusual for these glamorous women to share their husbands?

Kitty's good friend, Emma Weymouth, 39, the Marchioness of Bath, lives an equally lavish life.

She often shares photos of her family life on the Longleat Estate.

Photos show her at private clubs, at the Royal Albert Hall and hanging out with Edward Enninful, Rita Ora and Emily Ratajkowski.

But her husband, Ceawlin Thynn, 8th Marquess of Bath, is less notable.

Although he appears more at Kitty's than Michael, the father of two makes brief appearances for birthdays, anniversaries and special events.

But photos of her in ball gowns in Cannes, wearing couture in Venice and sunbathing in Saint Tropez are often solo, or with a group of glamorous friends.

Even family snaps (the couple share sons John, nine, and Henry, three), often don't feature Ceawlin, 49.

Speaking to FEMAIL, former butler to King Charles III and now a British etiquette expert, Grant Harrol said this is nothing new.

'There are sometimes images of maybe family, spouses, but the accounts are mainly intended to show their lifestyle. What you need to remember about the aristocracy is that these ladies, when they marry into the family, live their own lives as such.

'Traditionally, back in the day, the husbands would run the estate and go to work in London, so the ladies would therefore throw house parties, socialise, their lives can be quite separate. Unsurprisingly, this comes across on social media and it just shows what they are up to while nodding back to previous traditions.

“The estates as such, or the spouses, will probably do their own thing on their own account.

“I'm sure there is cross-contamination sometimes, if I may say so, but that's just my opinion because the bills are theirs and theirs alone.

'There are a lot of other people who do have social media accounts, which I know don't include their other halves, they focus very much on their own work and on their own lifestyle.

'Is it something aristocratic/socialite? Not really, it sometimes applies to celebrities, sometimes politicians and sometimes even Royals. Very unusual, but it can happen.

'I suppose Lady Kitty Spencer is technically a member, 'cousin', of the Royal Family. It shows that they do things very much in their own style, in this new era they are becoming more and more influencers and it is a way to ensure that they keep their private life private as well. It could be a safety problem, but it could also be a personal preference not to want to show too much of daily reality.'

And Emma and Kitty are not the only ones.

Lady Mary Charteris, 36, shares a daughter with her husband Jessie Furze, whom she married in 2012.

Despite working together (the pair are members of the band The Big Pink), she rarely shares photos with him.

Lavish vacations to sun-drenched destinations, partying on yachts and snapping and DJing in nightclubs are part of her daily posts on Instagram.

But her husband is rarely broken.

Lady Mary has modeled for Tatler, Vanity Fair, Vogue and Love, among others, and is now best known as a DJ and member of the electronic rock band The Big Pink.

Her mother Catherine Guinness, of the Guinness dynasty, who was the daughter of Diana Mitford, once worked for Andy Warhol, and her father Jamie is the 13th Earl of Wemyss and the 9th Earl of March. As a teenager, the Earl was Page of Honor for the Queen Mother.

It was in her teens that she started modeling after being introduced to the world famous agency Storm Models by magazine editor and fashion muse Isabella Blow, who was a long-time family friend.

In her early twenties, Lady Mary met Robbie Furze of the band The Big Pink and the couple quickly became joined at the hip. Soon she was joining the group on tour, selling T-shirts and helping with lighting.

The couple then married in 2012 at her family estate at Stanway in Gloucestershire, wearing a custom-made Pam Hogg dress with openwork panels that went below her navel.

Since then, Lady Mary has become a fixture in the Big Pink, replacing bandmate Dave McCracken when he left. Robbie wanted a singer on some songs and after hearing Mary sing in the car one day, he suggested she give it a try.

Mary's friend Alice Naylor-Leyland is another friend who rarely posts couples photos.

Alice is married to Tom Naylor-Leyland, heir to one of Britain's land-owning dynasties. His family has historic lands and properties across the country.

Princess Beatrice's longtime friend is a Vogue columnist, model and fashion muse.

She runs her own tableware company, Mrs Alice, which specializes in providing hostesses with everything needed for an Insta-worthy dinner table.

The mother-of-three, who was named one of Tatler's 'society swans' of 2018, regularly shares photos of her glamorous life on Instagram.

While her Instagram offers a wholesome family vibe, with plenty of photos with the kids, Tom makes a rare appearance.
