Why fruit production must grow to maintain a healthy supply

According to the first advanced estimate, India’s horticulture production will be around 355 million tonnes in 2023-24, almost at the same level as the previous year, the government said recently.

Production in 2022-2023 was 355.48 million tonnes. Within this, vegetable production in 2023-2024 is estimated at about 209.39 million tons, which was 1.5 percent less than the previous year, while fruit production is estimated at about 112.08 million tons, which was 1.7 percent more than the previous year.
