He’s the award-winning Australian singer who has amassed over one billion streams across his music catalog.
But despite having a library of hit songs, Conrad Sewell is able to live his life without getting mobbed on the streets, which he sees as a blessing.
Opening up about fame and his success to Daily Mail Australia, the Brisbane-based hit-maker, 34, said he doesn’t care about being recognised in public.
‘It’s actually probably a blessing. I bet you if they did, I’d probably be annoyed of it by now, but it’s one of those things,’ he explained.
‘Firestone was such a hit for Kygo, and you know, a lot of people don’t know that I wrote that song and I wasn’t in the video clip or anything like that. So you know, it was a moment in history that may have led to me being more of a, a known face I kind of flew onto the radar with.

‘It’s interesting when you write a song like that and it becomes such a big song, and then me and Kygo get on stage, you perform it together, and then I’ll walk off, and they’ll take a photo with him, and I’ll just walk past like I wasn’t even on the stage.’
Conrad said success to him means him loving what he does and performing for the beloved fans who go to his concerts.
‘Those people know who I am, and the people that listen to my music, that’s really what it’s about, you know? It’s not about people coming up to you in the shops and taking a picture,’ he said.

Sewell also opened up about being a new dad to son Memphis Rose Ignatius.
He said fatherhood is amazing but harder than he thought it would be, and puts pressure on him to deliver as an artist because he wants to provide for his family.
‘It teaches you a lot about yourself, but ultimately it’s just the best. To have that much love for somebody other than yourself, for the first time in your life, is a pretty weird experience,’ he explained.
‘It’s not just about me. I’ve got to think about my family for the first time, which is just another layer of life.
‘Ultimately, I think that it’s been a big blessing for me. It’s probably something that I needed,’ he concluded.
