Whoopi Goldberg unleashes on Democrats for pushing Biden out of 2024 race and claims it sends a ‘horrific’ message to Americans

The View’s Whoopi Goldberg has vented her anger at Democrats after claiming they pushed President Joe Biden out of the 2024 election.

Biden announced that he is permanently withdrawing from the presidential race and instead endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris to take his place at the top of the ticket.

The announcement came after weeks of pressure from leading Democrats, but Goldberg believes it sends a bad message to older Americans.

“The message we’re sending to people over a certain age is horrible. We’ve basically said, ‘Hey, you know what? We think if you’re over a certain age, you don’t really have what it takes to do the job that you’re doing.’ That’s the message we’re sending, and I’m tired of hearing it,” Goldberg began.

“I would have preferred if my Democrats had not done this publicly and in everyone’s face,” Goldberg continued. “What it did was make us have to talk about it endlessly.”

Goldberg’s co-host, Alyssa Farah Griffin, a former Trump adviser and the Republican contestant on ABC’s long-running talk show panel, publicly defended how the entire process had unfolded, stressing how the job of the presidency is “so different from any other job” — but Goldberg pushed back.

“Again, it’s telling people of a certain age, because that’s what the message has been. ‘You’re old. You’re cheating.’ It really pissed me off. Not because I’m that close. But because I thought it was disrespectful,” she explained.

The Oscar-winning actress then warned other Democrats considering challenging Harris for the nomination, particularly Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, a former Democrat who now runs as an Independent.

Goldberg believes the way Democrats have behaved in recent weeks does not send a good message to older Americans

Over the weekend, Biden announced that he was finally dropping out of the presidential race and instead backing Vice President Kamala Harris to take his place at the top of the ticket

“I’m confident we won’t have a problem here because this is what everybody said they wanted to happen. Mr. Manchin, don’t even think about it,” Goldberg said.

Manchin has said he considered re-registering as a Democrat to seek the nomination after Biden’s announcement.

“We don’t want you. We don’t want you. We saw what you did. Go and stay where you are,” Goldberg demanded.

“I started talking like I was a talking head for the Democrats. I’m a talking head for Whoopi, sit down,” she added.

Later Monday, Manchin said he would not challenge Harris but suggested there should be a more competitive nominating process among Democrats and that the party should hold a “mini-primary.”
