View fans have been left teary-eyed as they witnessed a “rare” show of emotion from host Whoopi Goldberg as she interviewed a teenage girl battling a rare brain tumor.

As part of Brain Tumor Awareness Month, Whoopi, 68, and her cohost, Sara Haines, invited Mya Jackson, 15, to Thursday’s show, with her mom, Tanya, and surprised the brave teen with a meet and greet with her favorite singer, Sofia Carson.

In highly emotional scenes, Mya – who was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) at the age of six – was seen hugging Sofia, 31, while Whoopi helped mum-of-three Sara wipe away tears with a tissue – but even the Sister Act star couldn’t keep it together and struggled to get her words out by the end of the segment.

While trying to reach the Make A Wish foundation, which had made Mya’s dream come true, Whoopi had to pause and compose herself as she fought back tears, her voice breaking – and fans were shocked to see her like this.
