Whoever underestimates us will regret it: AAP amid impasse in alliance talks
Amid uncertainty over an alliance with the Congress for the Haryana assembly polls, AAP on Saturday warned that those who “underestimated” the party would “regret” it.
Addressing a press conference, AAP national secretary (organisation) Sandeep Pathak said the party is ready to contest the Haryana elections with full force in all 90 seats.
“We are fully prepared and are waiting for the order from the party. Once we get the ‘go’ word, we will announce everything. We are prepared to fight the elections with full force on all seats and those who underestimate us will regret it in the future,” Pathak said.
Alliance talks between AAP and Congress have stalled over seat-sharing. AAP has demanded 10 seats while Congress has offered five to seven, insiders said.
Haryana goes to polls on October 5. The last date to file nominations is September 12.
Earlier in the day, AAP national spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar had said talks were underway and she hoped “a conclusion” would be reached.
“Talks are still on, so it is too early to comment on that,” she said when asked how many seats the AAP would contest if it forms an alliance with the Congress.
AAP is campaigning continuously in Haryana. Sunita Kejriwal, wife of party leader Arvind Kejriwal, will be addressing public meetings in the state on Saturday.
“We are ready to contest on all 90 seats,” Kakkar said.
AAP sources claimed on Friday that alliance talks were on the verge of “failing”.
They also claimed that the party planned to contest for 50 seats and would announce its first list of candidates on Sunday.
INDIA’s AAP and Congress bloc members contested the Lok Sabha elections in an alliance in Haryana, Gujarat and Delhi.
