Kellie Pickler has spoken out for the first time since the tragic death of her husband Kyle Jacobs, thanking supporters for all their love during ‘the darkest time of my life’.
Jacobs, 49, took his own life on February 17, 2023.
“One of the greatest lessons my husband taught me was in a moment of crisis: if you don’t know what to do, don’t do anything, just be quiet,” Pickler said in a statement to People.

Who was Kyle Jacobs?
Kyle Jacobs was an American country music singer-songwriter.
He also played guitar and piano, writing songs for other artists, including Lee Brice, Kelly Clarkson, and his wife.
Jacobs also appeared in the three seasons of the reality show I Love Kellie Pickler (2015 – 2017), which took a closer look at the couple’s lives.
Born on June 26, 1973, the musician-to-be grew up in Bloomington, Minnesota.
A religious man, Jacobs helped found United Teens Encounter Christ (UTEC) in the Twin Cities neighborhood of Minnesota, where he would play music at the group’s events.
At the age of 49, Jacobs died on February 17, 2023 in he and Pickler’s Nashville, Tennessee, with the cause of death confirmed as suicide in May.
Just a day before he died, Jacobs celebrated a record he was working on – Lee Brice’s Hey World album – going platinum.
He was a producer on the record, in addition to playing acoustic guitar and providing backing vocals.
In his latest Instagram post, he wrote, “Platinum?! SWEET!!! An amazing team of incredibly talented peeps put this one together… Honored to be a creative part of it… Thank you Jesus!!!”
When did Kyle Jacobs and Kellie Pickler meet?
Pickler and Jacobs began dating in early 2008, after the former ended a brief relationship with NHL player Jordin Tootoo.
After two and a half years, the couple became engaged on June 23, 2010 — Pickler’s late grandmother’s birthday — on a beach as the sun was setting.
Pickler said ‘it was the most spiritual moment, we would have been married that night if a minister walked by’.

How long were Kellie Pickler and Kyle Jacobs married?
After originally planning a very ornate and elaborate ceremony, the couple came back.
They eloped and had a surprise wedding on a private island in the Caribbean on New Year’s Day 2011.
The Red High Heels singer tweeted shortly afterwards: “Private Island. Caribbean. Cigar in one hand, rum in the other. Someone just called me “Mrs. Jacobs.”….sounds nice.’
At the time of Jacobs’ death, they had been married just over 12 years.
