Who takes top spot in our end of season POWER RANKINGS?

After another eventful top campaign, the curtain fell on Sunday afternoon for an unforgettable Premier League season.

From Erling Haaland’s goalscoring exploits to the relegation battle that spanned a host of teams, you could hardly take your eyes off the action.

Supporters were entertained all season as Arsenal ramped up their pursuit of a Premier League title before finally being pipped by Man City.

On an individual level, there have been a number of standout players who have carved their names into Premier League history, such as Miguel Almiron and Aleksandar Mitrovic.

During each game week, Mail sports provided a Power Rankings list that rated the top 10 players in the Premier League and here we’ve added it up to find the outright winner.

Everton left it until the last day of the season to ensure their survival in the Premier League

Last week’s top 10

10. Jacob Ramsey

9. Jadon Sancho

8.Bryan Mbuemo

7. Bukayo Saka

6. Kamaldeen Sulemana

5. Abdoulaye Doucoure

4. Bruno Fernandes

3.Harry Kane

2. Taiwo Awoniyi

1. Granite Xhaka

10. Bruno Fernandes (48 points)

It has been an eventful campaign for the Manchester United playmaker. During the good and the bad in 2022-23, Bruno Fernandes was there.

Many had suggested that the arrival of Christian Eriksen in the summer would remove Fernandes from some playmaking responsibilities, but that was not the case.

With eight goals and eight assists in the Premier League, the Portugal international had the second most goals (after Rashford) within the squad.

However, for all his impressive performances, there were some moments of criticism for the former Sporting Lisbon midfielder.

After United’s 7-0 defeat to rivals Liverpool, Fernandes – who was captain for the day – was singled out for his body language and attitude at Anfield.

9. Kevin De Bruyne (49 points)

It is surprising to see the Belgium international so far down our Power Rankings list given how impressive he has been for Manchester City this season.

De Bruyne has notched up a staggering 16 assists in the top flight this season – the most in the league – as well as scoring seven goals in the process.

His performances at the heart of the City team proved vital to their eventual claim of the Premier League title, especially with his performance in their 4-1 win over Arsenal.

The Belgian charged onto the field and applied a cleanly batted, but hugely powerful, blow into the bottom corner to kick-start victory at the Etihad.

Belgium international Kevin De Bruyne recorded 16 assists – the most in the Premier League

8. Miguel Almiron (55 points)

It feels like we’ve been hearing Almiron’s name popping up less and less in recent months when talking about the most in form players in the Premier League.

There was a time, from September to March, when you couldn’t escape the Paraguayan and his plethora of impressive Newcastle goals.

He scored 11 goals in the Premier League – all of which preceded his thigh injury suffered in mid-March – setting a personal best in the process.

It was speculated that Almiron’s impressive form stemmed from an infamous video of Jack Grealish mocking him during City’s title celebrations last season.

Given how his form has slipped in recent months, he may be hoping the former Aston Villa striker drops him again in the coming weeks.

7. Aleksandar Mitrovic (66 points)

After scoring a record 43 goals in the championship last season, many wondered if Mitrovic could continue that in the top flight.

Well the answer was yes. He proved as much on the first day of the season after winning a brace in their 2-2 draw against Liverpool.

From then on, the Serbian striker didn’t look great, scoring 14 goals – including one assist – for Marco Silva’s high-flying side.

It would have been a perfect season for Mitrovic, but his campaign was marred by the eight-game suspension he received last month.

The Fulham striker was penalized by the FA for shoving referee Chris Kavanagh during Fulham’s FA Cup meltdown at Manchester United.

6. Marcus Rashford (82 points)

What a season it has been for Manchester United star Rashford, who looks like a new man since the arrival of Erik ten Hag last summer.

The 25-year-old has been at center stage at Old Trafford since Cristiano Ronaldo’s dramatic departure and hasn’t looked back since.

He managed to match his best ever goalscoring in the Premier League, with an impressive 17 goals to his credit for the campaign.

His performances certainly did not go unnoticed and at the end of the season he received the Player of the Year and Player of the Year awards.

And, within Mail Sport’s goal of the year awards, Rashford’s attack was pushed forward as a contender in their 3-2 defeat to Arsenal.

Man United winger Marcus Rashford scored 17 Premier League goals all year

5. Gabriel Martinelli (88 points)

Perhaps his fifth-place finish is a bit harsh given how impressive Martinelli was for Arsenal during the 2022-23 season.

With 15 goals and five assists in the Premier League, the Brazilian winger proved to be a vital asset for Mikel Arteta in their pursuit of a league title.

His impressive score was quite unexpected considering he had scored just 11 Premier League goals in the previous three seasons.

With all this said, there will be hope that his ankle injury sustained in their 3-0 defeat to Brighton will not affect his involvement next season.

4. Martin Odegaard (101 points)

Despite his sensational performances for the Gunners this year, Odegaard is unlucky not to have landed on our Power Rankings podium.

The Norway international had a sensational year in midfield for Arsenal and became a catalyst in their pursuit of the Premier League title.

With 15 goals, Odegaard posted one of the highest scoring Premier League seasons for a midfielder, managing to assist with seven assists.

It was the 24-year-old’s first full campaign as Arsenal captain and if things go right this season you can expect him to lead the Gunners to success very soon.

3. Bukayo Saka (157 points)

The best of the (Arsenal) bunch.

While he may have been surpassed by his two teammates, Saka takes the crown for the most impressive player at Arsenal.

With 14 goals and 11 assists in the league, the 21-year-old had the fourth most goals in the entire league – surpassed only by Haaland, Kane and Salah.

Ask any fan who’s been to the Emirates this season and they’ll tell you all about Saka’s impressive performances.

From silky smooth dribbles to stunning finishes, he showed it all.

Winger Bukayo Saka had a whopping 25 goals in his 38 appearances

2. Harry Kane (168 points)

Without a certain Norwegian goal-scoring machine, Kane’s 2022-23 campaign would be called one of the best in recent years.

Despite all of Spurs’ struggles this season, the England captain managed to match his best-ever scoring in a Premier League campaign after scoring 30 goals this year.

In the process, Kane became Tottenham’s all-time top goalscorer after scoring his 267th club goal in their 1–0 win over Manchester City.

Whether he will stay at the club beyond the summer remains to be seen as rumors of a possible summer departure have been circulating.

1. Erling Haaland (224 points)

Who else but Erling Haaland?

The Norwegian striker has set the league on fire since his arrival last summer, breaking almost every possible record.

With his Premier League tally of 36 goals, he broke the previous record for most goals in a first-class campaign, as if there was ever any doubt about it.

Among those goals, the former Borussia Dortmund striker managed four hat-tricks in clashes with Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Man United and Wolves.

His name popped up consistently all season, as he scored goal after goal for Pep Guardiola’s Treble-chasing side.

In all competitions, he has scored 52 goals in 51 games, and the FA Cup final is yet to come. Yes, that’s the actual number. Serious.
