The veteran journalist announced Tuesday evening that she was leaving the show to spend more time with her family.

Channel 10 has not yet made an official announcement about who will replace Carrie.

Chrissie Swan, 48, is one of the favorites to replace Bickmore.

A long-time network favorite, the host appears as a guest on the show every Thursday.

Chrissie also filled in for Carrie during her three-month sabbatical when she last moved to the UK earlier this year.

An industry insider told Daily Mail Australia that Bickmore’s potential move to Nine’s Today made “logical” given her undeniable popularity.
