Who needs an Emmy! Kevin Costner treks to Saudi Arabia to receive Lifetime Achievement trophy at the Joy Awards – after repeated Yellowstone snubs
Kevin Costner was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award in Saudi Arabia this week – after his iconic drama Yellowstone was once again snubbed by the Emmy Awards.
The acclaimed actor, 69, who plays John Dutton III in the Western drama, expressed his “heartfelt gratitude” after receiving a Joy Award for his achievements in film and TV.
Notably, Yellowstone has been ignored by the Primetime Emmy Awards multiple times and never received a nomination in any of the major acting categories or in Outstanding Drama Series throughout all four seasons of the highly popular CBS show.
A dapper Costner shared photos of his glitzy awards and wrote, “I am struck by the incredible hospitality we received in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
‘My sincere thanks to the #JoyAwards for choosing to recognize me with a Lifetime Achievement Award.’

Notably, Yellowstone has been ignored by the Primetime Emmy Awards multiple times and never received a nomination in any of the major acting categories or in Outstanding Drama Series throughout all four seasons of the highly popular CBS show.
The only nomination Yellowstone received at the Emmys was for Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Contemporary Program for production designer Cary White, art director Yvonne Boudreaux and set designer Carla Curry.
Yellowstone was not recognized in the Outstanding Drama Series category, but eight different projects were recognized, including: Andor, You better call Saul, The crown, House of the Dragon, The last of us, Succession, The White Lotus, and Yellow jackets.
Kevin was ignored in the Another outstanding leading man in the Drama category, as he lost to three historical succession stars: Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin and Jeremy Strong. Jeff Bridges (the old man), Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), and Pedro Pascal (the last of us).
The final episodes of the highly popular CBS series starring Costner will air in November 2024.
This comes just months after it was reported that the 68-year-old lead actor would be leaving the series in the first half of season 5.
Diehard Yellowstone fans got some good news, however, as Paramount has greenlit two new spinoff series.
One is called 1944 and the other is a contemporary series currently titled 2024.

There are already two spin-off series in the Yellowstone universe that are very popular, titled 1883 and 1923.
American filmmaker and actor Taylor Sheridan is the mastermind behind the franchise and spin-offs when Yellowstone first premiered in 2018 with Costner in the lead role of John Dutton.
The relationship between Costner and 53-year-old Sheridan has been anything but harmonious, as DailyMail.com reported new details about their split in April.
Sources claimed that Sheridan had developed a “God complex,” which reportedly left Costner frustrated with the development of the hit Paramount Network series.
The outlet also claimed that morale among the cast had declined as they were not kept informed of Costner’s negotiations with producers.
“Kevin will forever be proud and grateful for Yellowstone and the cast is like family to him,” the source said of Costner, who recently picked up a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of John Dutton.
“He just felt like Yellowstone was going in a direction that wasn’t consistent with their original vision and he was criticized, including that he should just stick to acting.”
In April the New York Post reported that Costner’s desire to reduce his workload in the fifth season to focus on other projects was also the cause of the tension between him and Sheridan.
