Who is Julie Goodyear’s husband?
Scott Brand, 55, is Goodyear’s fourth husband and has not had a career in television or show business, keeping him much further out of the limelight than his famous wife.
Goodyear met Mr. Brand – who is 26 years her junior – in 1996, when he delivered a plaster cast to her home.
When Goodyear appeared in Piers Morgan’s Life Stories in 2013, Goodyear revealed that Brand proposed to her every day for 11 years before accepting.
She said, ‘Maybe I’ll renew his contract. He’s been the best of a bad bunch, really.’ When asked if she was happily married, she replied, “Very.”
When asked about her sexuality, the chat show host said, “You’ve had relationships with men and women.” Miss Goodyear replied, ‘A relationship can be a friendship. A soulmate, whatever. You don’t always have to have sex.
‘Many gays work in the sector in which we work. Don’t have gay friends? What’s it like having sex with them?’
Before marrying Scott Brand, Julie Goodyear had three previous marriages, to Ray Sutcliffe, Tony Rudman and Richard Skrob.
Her marriage to Rudman in 1973 saw the couple wed just a few hours before he ran off with the best man. The heartbreak left her so distraught that she spent a month in a mental health clinic.
In 1979 she was diagnosed with cervical cancer and had only one year to live. She was then married to airline Skrob between 1985 and 1987.
What did Julie Goodyear’s husband recently announce?
Mr Brand released a statement on Wednesday saying: ‘My dear wife and I have had to accept this heartbreaking diagnosis.
“Unfortunately Julie has been suffering from forgetfulness for some time and we have sought medical advice and help.
“But we now know there is no hope of a turnaround – and that her condition will gradually, if not soon, get worse.
“We have made the decision to make the diagnosis public as Julie still enjoys visiting friends and going out for dinner.

Julie remains a patron of Willow Wood Hospice in Greater Manchester and has said she wants to highlight the great work of the hospices who do so much to support patients and families with dementia.

In December 2020, Julie paid tribute to fellow soap opera actress, EastEnders star Dame Barbara Windsor, who died following her own battle with Alzheimer’s disease, aged 83.
She wrote on Facebook, “Last night was so devastating to anyone in the industry who was ever lucky enough to meet Barbara let alone work with her.
“She was a national treasure. That word is used too casually these days. But with Barbara, it was well-intentioned. Thoughts are with her family and friends.
“From one former landlady to the next, I raise a glass to the one and only and irreplaceable Barbara Windsor.
