New York’s most prolific serial killer isn’t a household name, but in the late 1980s and early 1990s, 64-year-old Joel Rifkin terrorized more than a dozen unsuspecting sex workers and lured them to their deaths.
In 1993, Rifkin confessed to slaughtering seventeen prostitutes with his bare hands after foolishly transporting the corpse of his last victim in a truck without license plates, drawing the attention of police.
He is currently serving a 203-year prison sentence and is speaking out for the first time in years in a new A&E special, Cold Case Files: The Rifkin Murders, airing September 30.
