Who is George Michael’s ex lover Fadi Fawaz?

George Michael’s corpse was discovered on Christmas Day 2016 by friend Fadi Fawaz.

Fawaz said he would “never stop” his ex-partner.

After the tragedy, he became embroiled in an argument with the singer’s family over the terms of his ex-partner’s will.

This was part of a spiral that followed Fawaz’s life after Michael’s death.

Who is George Michael’s boyfriend, Fadi Fawaz?

Born in Australia in May 1973, Fadi Fawaz is a former celebrity hairdresser and also worked as a photographer.

He experienced the loss of a celebrity close to him long before the death of his future lover when his friend and Boyzone singer Stephen Gately passed away in 2009.

That same year, Fawaz reportedly began dating George Michael after the Wham! star’s relationship with Kenny Goss ended, and Fawaz allegedly helped Michael through a series of personal problems.

However, this new relationship remained private and Michael did not publicly announce his divorce from Goss until 2011.

The two were first photographed together as a couple in 2015 in Switzerland, when Michael was reportedly checked into the world’s most expensive drug rehab, the Kusnacht Practice, which cost £190,000 a month.

But tragically, on Christmas Day 2016, Fawaz found the singer dead at his home in Goring-on-Thames after trying to wake him up so they could have lunch.

An inquest ruled that the singer died of natural causes and had a dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver.

In a statement at the time, Fawaz said he will “never miss” Michael.

Did Fadi Fawaz get anything from George Michael’s will?

Following Michael’s death in 2016, his two sisters Yioda and Melanie and cousin Alex Georgiou became embroiled in a feud with the singer’s partner over his £97,645,179 estate.

But Michael, whose real name was Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou, left Fawaz nothing in his will.

His will, dated January 10, 2013, stipulated that his property and personal effects would be divided equally between his sisters.

His father Kyriacos ‘Jack’ Panayiotou was handed the use of Michael’s horse stud farm in Hertfordshire ‘for as long as he wants’.

Paintings and art, including his John Lennon piano (which is on display in a museum in Yorkshire) would go to the trustees of the Mill Charitable Trust – a charity Michael set up in 2009 to give away money to other charities.

The remainder of the estate would be sold by the trustees and then divided as they saw fit between his father, sisters, Shirlie Kemp, Kay Mayer (Beckenham), David Austin, Michelle May, Alex Georgiou, Connie Filippo and Sonia Bird.

What is Fadi Fawaz doing now?

Since Michael’s death, Fawaz’s life has become chaotic.

In July 2019, Fawaz was arrested by police after ‘standing on the roof’ of the singer’s £5 million mansion.

He was arrested on suspicion of serious criminal damage and taken away in a police van.

Later that year, Fawaz was photographed walking down the street in Covent Garden amid claims he slept poorly after checking out of a £49-a-night Travelodge.

But relatives in Australia said they were reassured by his friends in September 2019 that he was fine.

In a series of disturbing tweets the following month, Fawaz claimed that Michael was HIV positive and that his late lover had not written his own songs.

He followed up the claim with a selfie, insisting his account had not been hacked and saying it was he who sent the tweets.

In February 2021, Fawaz filmed himself ranting about his love of smoking the class A drug crystal meth on Instagram.

A warrant was issued for his arrest in the following months after he failed to appear in court over allegations of smashing a saloon window. He was subsequently fined £800 for criminal damage at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court on 13 March.

Towards the end of the year he was fined £420 after vandalizing a historic London church with graffiti.
