Who is Finn Cole? How Peaky Blinders star used his famous brother to shoot to stardom and enjoy a steamy on-screen romp with Margot Robbie – as he sparks dating rumours with Florence Pugh

Finn Cole and Florence Pugh caused a stir on Tuesday when they were spotted leaving The Perfect Couple party together.

The duo then arrived at the premiere in silence, after which they partied the night away at The Hoxton before leaving in the same car.

Although they’ve largely managed to remain unnoticed, Finn has built up quite a fan base over the years.

It seemed obvious that he would go into acting, as he is the youngest brother of Gangs of London and Black Mirror star Joe Cole.

He rose to fame when he starred alongside his brother in the cast of Peaky Blinders.

Joe said he wanted to help his younger brother with his career and helped him get the part by talking to show bosses.

In 2014, he told Clash: ‘Finn always wanted to find his own path. He was very enthusiastic and showed real energy and passion for acting.

‘He kept nagging. I kind of brushed him off, but eventually I said, “I’ll talk to you.” [the show’s producers] “When you read the lines and you figure out the character and you learn the accent and you learn the scenes. You do the prep, and I film you doing it.”

“He worked hard on it, and let’s be honest, he worked very hard on it and he got what he deserved.”

Finn added that he had extra stress around the time of the audition because he was still in school and didn’t have enough money to go to the auditions.

He explained: ‘He had the script ready and we talked about it and read it together, and there was a character in there that I thought was really cool and that I really liked.

‘I never really intended to audition. I was still at university at the time doing my A-levels, so I had to concentrate on that.

‘The next week, after I read it, I was in college and I was really bored. I thought, “You know what? I’m going to call Joe and see what he says.”

‘If there’s any chance I could audition that would be great. He said I should go to Birmingham, they have open auditions there.

‘I was looking for train tickets to Birmingham, but I had no money, so I couldn’t do that. Then he called me back and said, “Why don’t we just record an audition?” Then I send it to my agent.

Luckily, it worked out and Finn made his debut in 2014 when he was cast as Michael Gray, the cousin of Joe’s character John Shelby.

The following year, Finn made more television appearances, playing the role of Eric Birling in Helen Edmundson’s BBC One adaptation of An Inspector Calls and also making a guest appearance in the detective series Lewis.

Film roles also soon beckoned: Joe landed roles in the 2018 horror comedy Slaughterhouse Rulez and the 2020 drama Young Men.

He was cast opposite Margot Robbie in Dreamland, with whom they filmed a steamy nude kiss.

In a scene from the Amazon Prime film, the couple can be seen stripping down for the intimate scenes, and it is clear that they are struggling to hide their growing feelings for each other.

He also landed a role in the 2023 psychological thriller Locked In, which will air on Netflix.

Red Speedos marks the stage debut of the star, who began his acting career on television.

Florence also indicated this year that she liked every Instagram post of Finn and expressed her joy when it was announced that he had landed a role in the theatre production.

She commented on the post: ‘Oh my god this is so exciting!’ and added that she would be bringing her beloved grandma along. She shared: ‘Grandma Pat wants to come along.. #obvious.

Despite having 924,000 followers on Instagram and having played famous roles, Finn revealed in 2021 that he doesn’t feel all that different since becoming famous.

He told the Gentleman’s Journal: ‘Although there has been the odd occasion when I’ve been sitting in a restaurant and someone has looked at me for a long time and I’ve wondered if [they might recognise me]. I never say anything.’
