Who is Danika Mason’s ex? A look into the life of Todd Liubinskas

Danika Mason, 30, calling off her wedding to Todd Liubinskas just three weeks after the big day has led many to wonder who her ex is.

Anyone with an interest in rugby league or television knows who the Channel Nine presenter is, but they are much less clear about her 40-year-old, now former partner.

Guests who had accepted invitations to the couple’s wedding, including several high-profile media identities, were told last week that the wedding had been canceled.

Mason, who was said to be ‘heartbroken’ and ‘devastated’, was on screen during Nine’s coverage of the NRL preliminary finals last weekend despite the wedding not going ahead.

Mr Liubinskas, who works as a personal trainer in the fitness industry, is far from a household name but still manages to gain 12,000 followers on social media.

The son of former Western Suburbs and Balmain rugby league player Mick Liubinskas, he grew up in western Sydney where, as he once said, he played “pretty much every sport until I was a teenager.”

Mr Liubinskas is a friend of celebrity fitness coach Michelle Bridges, who was there for her after her split from Steve ‘The Commando’ Willis three years ago.

The pair were pictured splashing around on the beach, with their close friendship earning headlines such as: ‘Meet the man who makes Michelle Bridges smile again’.

The strength and conditioning coach at the time showed another woman smiling and saying he had a girlfriend, but declined to say who she was.

It soon became known that Mason was the mystery belle and the couple got engaged in July 2021 when Mr Liubinskas asked for her hand in marriage.

Bridges said at the time of the rumors about them in 2020 that she had known Mr. Liubinskas for years and that he visited her in the hospital when her son Axel was born.

“I admire Todd because he works at the grassroots, holding people’s hands and talking them off the edge, instead of making it all a show for Instagram,” she said of her friend.

Mr. Liubinskas celebrated his 40th birthday two weeks ago, writing on Instagram about the celebration: “40 feels good!”

He added, “Thanks for the love! An epic surprise,” Mason was tagged in the post.

It is unclear why the wedding was called off, but Daily Mail Australia revealed that he had asked Mason, through a third party, for the diamond engagement ring.

The pair were last seen arm-in-arm in mid-September at the launch of BYD’s new electric car and showroom in Alexandria, Sydney’s south.

The couple, who share a chocolate Labrador named Charlie, were seen smiling and posing for photos together at the event

In June, Mason proudly shared a video of Charlie helping her unpack a margarita tasting kit to be used at their wedding reception.

“The best part of planning a wedding… doing the Margarita tastings,” she captioned the post.

Mr. Liubinskas was recently approached by producers of Married At First Sight to star in the popular singles reality show.

Showrunners apparently didn’t know he was engaged to Mason.

He told Daily Mail Australia at the time: “Lol… I shut it down pretty quickly.”

It is not yet known whether he may now reconsider the offer.
