Who gets the booth seat on a date? Unspoken couple rule sparks debate between men and women

Heated discussions led to an “unspoken” rule for where men and women should sit on a date

  • Women claim they deserve the stand on a date
  • Many say it’s an “unspoken rule.”
  • Others hit back, claiming that men should face the door

Thousands are divided over an “unspoken rule” that many couples say they adhere to in restaurants.

People argue about whether it’s a given that the woman sits at the side of the table when she’s on a date at a restaurant.

Many said there are practical reasons for women sitting in the cabin seat, as if they have a place to put their bags.

While men said they prefer to face the door to “protect” their partner in an emergency.

“If your fiancée doesn’t understand the unspoken rules girls belong in the booth,” one woman said on Instagram video give rise to a heated discussion.

She showed her boyfriend sitting across from her on the cushioned couch in a restaurant, with all the surrounding couples arranged at their tables so that the women were in booths.

Dozens of women put forward their arguments why wives and girlfriends ‘deserve’ the rank above their male partners.

“Women need the cubicle to rest their wallets. It’s about practicality,” one viewer commented.

“Personally, I prefer the booths to hide my post-dinner bloating,” laughed another.

“If they’re wearing heels and clothing/makeup that needs constant adjustment throughout the night, it’s best to get them a more comfortable chair,” a third commented.

“I just thought it was because it was more comfortable in the booths or as window seats,” someone else added.

The tongue-in-cheek claim did lead to some serious replies, as both men and women said boyfriends and husbands should face the door.

“No, I can perceive the threat of the open area by not standing with my back to it,” said one man.

‘NO! The girls back to the exit so the man can spot an emergency,’ another agreed.

“For me, my husband should have the side facing the door and I respect that,” replied another.

However, the protective stance confused many commenters with one hitting back: “Are the guys in the comments okay?” In which war zone (and decade) do you live?’.

“Do you all live in the 19th century? Why must ‘your PROTECTOR’ face the door? What’s he going to do if someone walks in there with a gun? Just pick a seat and move on,” snapped a second.

Some said they don’t care which side they’re on and others had never heard of the “rule,” while people in same-sex relationships joked that the rule doesn’t exist for them.

“I like to sit on the chair as close to the table as possible, you can all have the booth,” one man laughed.

‘Never heard of it. We take turns, sometimes during the same meal,’ another said.

“Are you okay with straight people?” joked someone else.

Some came up with a simple and more romantic solution to the problem.

“Umm I’m sitting and we’re both in the booth,” one person said and the second came forward, “The correct answer: get real close and both sit in the booth.”
