Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan were crowned Love Island 2023 champions after reaching the final on Monday night.

Before entering the village, the Physical Education and Science teacher already had Celebrity connections like his cousin Dean Fagan were on Coronation Street.

Meanwhile, 24-year-old social worker Sanam had 16,000 followers on Instagram before joining the Village, which has now grown to 36,000.

Like all romances on the show, the pair have had a rocky ride, with Kai’s former love interest Olivia furious. when his head turned at Casa Amor – just like hers.

But Kai’s decision to get back together with Sanam has proven valuable as they’ve stayed strong ever since.

So as fans count down to the Love Island finale, here’s everything you need to know about the couple.

Uh-oh: Like all romances on the show, the couple has had a rocky ride, with Kai’s former love interest Olivia fuming when his head was turned on Casa Amor, just like hers.

Who is Kai Fagan?

Before enrolling at Love Island, the Manchester-born Kai worked as a science and physical education teacher, and also played semi-professional rugby for Burnage RFC.

He says: ‘I am a citizen of Jamaica. That’s why I played rugby 7s for Jamaica. I now play semi-professional rugby for Burnage RFC.

“Technically I got three different degrees and went to three different universities.”

When asked who he would like to play him in a movie based on his life, Kai added, “Michael B. Jordan, he’s great.”

Explaining why he decided to enter the Love Island villa, Kai says that he hopes to find real feelings with another woman, since they will be spending a lot of time together in the villa.

He says: “When you first meet someone, you usually never spend that much time with them, so when you’re looking for a genuine connection, the Villa is the perfect place to do it.”

Revealing that Margot Robbie is a celebrity he likes, Kai also admits that he’s already picked his dream dinner guests, adding, “Martin Luther King, Muhammad Ali, Sir Alex Ferguson and probably Sylvester Stallone…it’s an odd bunch of people, isn’t it?’

Before her debut on the show, Sanam had her sights set on Kai.

She joked: ‘Kai is my number one. As for work, I think we would connect a lot and I think he’s cute!

The Bedford native said she was ‘chilled and fun’ before her entrance, but added: ‘If there’s ‘that person’ then I’m serious!’

She hinted that there may be a connection to one of the other boys, admitting: ‘Tom, I love his beard! He’s not my usual type, but there’s something about him that I’m physically attracted to.

“Casey, he doesn’t seem so serious and I think you could have fun and joke with him,” he added, however a romance with the children did not blossom.

When asked what was the number one thing he looks for in a partner, Sanam said, I want someone to be able to joke with me.

I want you to know that I’m not always serious. They have to be at the same level as me.

Sanam has remained with Kai since he entered the Village, however, her partner was previously with Tanyel Revan, Anna-May Robey, Samie Elishi, and Olivia.

Olivia, who was recently kicked out of the village along with Maxwell Samuda, was furious after Kai hooked up with Sanam, despite the fact that she herself had teamed up with newcomer Maxwell Samuda.

Returning to the main villa, he told Kai what he thought and said, ‘It’s very revealing, it’s very revealing. I can’t say I’m surprised.

Having been voted by the rest of the village to enjoy a night at the hide-and-seek, the couple turned to sexy props to build the romantic atmosphere.

Kai had a surprise in store for Sanam when she dressed in an unusual outfit, complete with a baseball cap and sunglasses, and they wasted no time exploring all the Hideaway had to offer upon entering.

Sharing a kiss while sitting poolside, Sanam decided to go inside so she could get dressed before performing a sexy dance for him.

Soon after, Kai picked up the chocolate body paint and Sanam told him, “I love it, you can definitely lick that off me.”

And the body chocolate seemed to be a treat as Kai smiled as she began to cover his shirtless body in the sauce.

But when Sanam first came on the scene during the Casa Amor segment, a love triangle was formed when she made out with Kai and Casey O’Gorman.

In the main Villa, Kai talked to Sanam on the couches and talked about her kiss with Casey the night before.

Kai told Sanam, ‘The girl I’m gravitating to the most here is probably you. I enjoy talking to you. I like to get to know you a little.

Sanam said, ‘I have been enjoying it very much. I think the people I’ve talked to the most are you and Casey. I think our conversations flow very well. I feel very comfortable. I can be myself.

‘I don’t know if I’m nervous or if our talks are more boom, boom, boom. With Casey, it’s like what else can I say?

Kai replied: ‘I heard they kissed… I thought you would have been in her bed?’
