Kenneth Hanson, associate professor of Judaic Studies at the University of Central Florida, has outraged some of his students over the videos.

They appear on his YouTube channel. One shows him with brown makeup on his face, a fake beard, and flowing white robes.

Another clip that angered students showed him wearing brown makeup, wearing a fez cap and holding a handful of scrolls, with the background showing what appeared to be a traditional Moroccan souk.

Hanson also speaks in an exaggerated voice in many of the clips, much to the chagrin of some on campus.

The videos are posted on a public website along with your syllabus.

A Hanson student, who asked not to be named, told Fox35: “It’s 2022. I feel like I’m in a class in the 1960s.” Has no sense.

“I first noticed his practices with dark makeup, costumes, and putting on like an accent while playing historical figures in his lecture videos and that’s when I first noticed that this is definitely inappropriate and wrong.”

Siria Lutfi, president of the university’s Palestinian Student Association, said of the videos: “Knowing that this guy is working here at an institution that I pay so much money for and take so much pride in, it’s very painful to watch.

“It’s so painful to see that I have to walk on the same campus that this man is roaming around and posting videos like that and educating students by making fun of my culture.”

The student who made his complaints publicly wants an apology from Hanson and an explanation from the university as to why he was allowed to make the videos.

Hanson has faced criticism in the past, with an anonymous student complaining about his “derogatory and stereotypical depiction of cultures and religions” in 2018.

The UCF Office of Institutional Equity said at the time: ‘Dr. Hanson has not portrayed cultures other than his own, or even those that are his own, in an inappropriate way.’

A student complained against Hanson once again in 2021, according to FOX 35 and apparently the university told the professor to stop darkening his skin.
