White Sox color analyst Steve Stone has publicly apologized after criticism of Chicago pitcher Lance Lynn’s weight.
In his five starts this season, Lynn has got off to a brutal start, throwing a 7.52 ERA en route to an 0-3 record.
And Stone was targeting the 270-pound Lynn this week.
‘[Lynn]”He’s had a lot of leg problems and other things,” Stone said of Lynn on Parkins and Spiegel on 670 The Score.
“If he’s suffering from the pitch clock cardiovascularly, maybe a few salads would help…and I don’t know if he has a problem with that.

“But if that’s a problem, then maybe if you improve your heart and blood vessels by losing a few pounds or doing whatever he’s going to do to exercise.”
The White Sox came in on Friday with the third worst record in the league at 7-20, and the vibe around the team isn’t incredibly positive judging by Stone’s comments.
Nevertheless, the broadcaster apologized on Twitter on Friday.
“A few days ago I made a comment on the radio about Lance Lynn and his weight in relation to endurance,” he wrote.
“I made a mistake and I take responsibility. No excuses and no rationalizations. I was wrong. Lance and I spoke yesterday and I apologized. He accepted and we shook hands.’
Stone was a pitcher himself and a very successful one, as he won the 1980 Cy Young.
Stone spent three of his 11 seasons with the White Sox, finishing his career with a 3.97 ERA.
