White Fox Boutique couple Georgia and Daniel Contos buy third Vaucluse house

The founders of White Fox Boutique have continued their real estate spending spree, purchasing their third home in one of Sydney’s most exclusive eastern suburbs.

Georgia, 32, and Daniel Contos, 33, have spent almost $100 million buying up homes in the Vaucluse.

Their first home in Vaucluse cost them $34.5 million at the end of 2021 and the second, just down the road, cost $25 million earlier this year.

And now it’s been revealed that the Contos were also the mystery buyers who spent $36 million on the house next door to the one they started with two years ago.

The couple is reportedly planning to combine the two properties, with the $25 million home acting as a stopover while they carry out renovation work.

An application to demolish and rebuild part of the first house at a cost of $3.7 million was approved by Woollahra Council in August.

It has been revealed that the Contos were also the mystery buyers who spent $36 million on the house next door to the one they started with two years ago (pictured).

That level of renovation will take a while, so in the meantime, the couple is reportedly living in a house built in the 1920s.

Despite being a hundred years old, it is believed to be in excellent condition and has undergone a recent renovation, making it suitable for walk-in and move-in straight away.

That they can spend $100 million on real estate in two years and have enough left over to spend millions more on renovations shows how far the glamor couple has come.

They started selling clothes on eBay in 2013, when they were in their early twenties, offering the latest fashion trends at affordable prices.

Despite having no background in the industry, the venture proved to be a great success and was the start of the brand worn by the likes of the Kardashian sisters Sofia Richie, Hailey Baldwin and Emily Ratajkowski.

“I was working a full-time job so I had no idea it would become as big as it is or that it would be recognized by a lot of the people I meet,” Georgia Contos previously told Daily Mail Australia.

She said the main driver of the label’s success was social media.

“I didn’t have any money when I started the business, so if we hadn’t used Instagram, I don’t think it would have gotten as big as it is,” she said.

The Covid-19 lockdowns saw their sales skyrocket as shoppers flocked to stores to stock up on activewear and loungewear for all those extra hours at home.

They experienced a massive 154 per cent increase in sportswear sales after NSW went into lockdown for the second time in June 2021.

The brand has also gone international, with a showroom in Los Angeles and influencers wearing their bikinis, dresses and hoodies.

It hasn’t all been smooth sailing, however, with a backlash in early 2022 when some accused the label of poaching styles from smaller brands.

Influencers and small businesses took to social media to share side-by-side comparisons of the Australian fashion label’s designs, questioning their originality.

In a series of social media posts, White Fox Boutique was accused of selling designs similar to clothing from Australian and international brands Winston, Miaou and Dion Lee.

Ilah Watson was one of several small business owners who pointed fingers and accused the label of creating designs that resembled products sold by other brands.

In an Instagram post, Ms Watson shared an image of a blue miniskirt sold by her online retailer Vesper.co, alongside a near-identical design from White Fox.

‘Am I crazy, or…?’ she wrote.

In a video uploaded to TikTok, a number of White Fox designs appeared alongside similar styles from other fashion brands, which were sold at drastically lower prices.

The clip featured a white bustier sold by Australian designer Dion Lee, which retailed for approximately $790, pictured next to a White Fox bustier that sold online for $69.95.

But those bumps in the road didn’t stop the couple from enjoying a themed wedding around the same time in February 2022.

“We spent a lot of time on the finer details and making sure the day was absolutely perfect,” the new Mrs. Contos said at the time.

‘Our wedding theme and inspiration was an enchanted garden and I think we certainly achieved that.

‘We have made sure that we have spectacular photo opportunities that not only we but also our guests can enjoy.

“Food was also a big factor for us and we had A’mare Sydney take care of all of that.

‘After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a champagne, caviar and oyster cocktail hour, which was a great success.’

Four months ago, the brand hit another snag when Ms. Contos captured a video of her visit to the brand’s warehouse, which showed stacks and stacks of orders waiting to be shipped to shoppers.

Viewers were shocked by the amount of plastic packaging and clothing that many claimed would be ‘worn once before being thrown into landfill’.

But even though the short-lived criticism hit their finances, it didn’t stop the Contos from spending almost $100 million on three homes in the same exclusive Sydney suburb.
