Once upon a time it was Saturday night and the air was getting hot, but in the blink of an eye it’s Sunday morning, the party’s over and Whigfield’s pop star persona is a thing of the past.
Taking to Instagram over the weekend, the Danish singer, 52, looked unrecognisable as she revealed a fresh-faced look at odds with her pig-tailed former look in a new selfie.
Whigfield, real name Sannie Charlotte Carlson, was showing off her naturally pretty features after returning to social media following the tragic death of her beloved dog, Olivia.

Captioning the post, she wrote: ‘Hey guys. Happy weekend, I haven’t really felt like posting anything these past few weeks. Still a bit down after losing my beloved doggie.
‘Gonna be good to getting back to work this weekend. Anyhow, wishing you a happy weekend whatever you’ve up to.’
Whigfield became a household name thanks to hit single Saturday night, a UK number one for the singer following its release in 1993.

However the earworm proved to be her biggest success on British shores, with subsequent releases – among them a festive cover of Wham! track Last Christmas – charting poorly.
Appearing on breakfast show Lorraine in 2019, the singer admitted a healthy lifestyle as helped her maintain a youthful complexion.
She said: ‘The secret is do everything different to what you did in the 90s. I sleep every night at 10, I eat healthy and I exercise everyday. I’m not a naughty girl anymore.’

Reflecting on life away from the spotlight, Whigfield also revealed she lives on the outskirts of Milan, in the Italian countryside.
She said: ‘In the old days I was just so busy. I was sometimes promoting three singles at the same time. It was mad. Now I stop and smell the roses.’
The singer admitted she has turned her back on mainstream music over recent years, opting instead to focus on the vibrant international club scene.
She added: ‘I’ve been doing house music for the past three years. I’ve been writing music for other DJS.’
