Which industries are hiring the most people? Here’s a country-by-country breakdown

After record numbers of people quit their jobs due to the pandemic, the ‘great resignation’ has cooled and new analysis shows that the industries in every country employ the most people.

Data from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce shows that this is a “major reshuffle” rather than a layoff, as the hiring rate has exceeded the layoff rate since November 2020.

Women are also re-entering the labor market after being forced to leave during the pandemic. The female participation rate reached a record high of 77.5 percent in April.

The U.S. House of Representatives says the U.S. has 8.8 million job openings, but only 6.3 million unemployed.

Employers are struggling to fill vacancies and Resume.io analyzed current LinkedIn vacancies to see which sectors are currently most in need of talent around the world.

They found that staffing and recruitment were linked to IT services and consulting for the sectors that are hiring the most in most countries.

North America

Resume.io found that the restaurant industry has the most job openings in the United States. It accounted for 7.86 percent of vacancies in June.

Demand for dining out is reaching pre-pandemic levels. The US Census Bureau shows that retail and foodservice sales increased 2.5 percent in August compared to the previous year.

The National Restaurant Association found that restaurants employ more minority managers than any other industry, and that wait staff at full-service restaurants earn an average of $27.00 per hour, making it a sought-after industry.

While Canada’s unemployment rate remains steady at an all-time low of 5.5 percent, according to government data, vacancies in hospitals and health care account for 14.82 percent of job openings.

Global news reports that healthcare jobs in Canada have more than doubled since the pandemic, and a report shows that many people are leaving the sector due to burnout.

In Mexico, IT services and consultancy account for the most vacancies. Government data shows that Mexico has a workforce of 58.5 million people, with the largest concentration of workers in the sales sector.

South America

A shocking 304,162 migrants attempted to cross the US border in August, many of whom came from South American countries.

The Washington Office on Latin America found in August that the migrant population was 77 percent Venezuelan, with others coming from Ecuador and Colombia.

Data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that there was a staggering drop of 1.223 million natives in the labor force between July and August. In stark contrast, nearly 688,000 jobs were secured by foreign-born workers.

Resume.io found that the sector that hires the most people in Venezuela is the consumer services sector. In Ecuador it is IT services and consultancy.

They found that HR services in Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina and Bolivia had the most vacancies.

In Brazil, the technology, information and internet industries had the most mentions.

Europe

Government data shows unemployment in Britain is low, and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has launched a new drive to help young people find work and fill the labor shortage.

In Britain, construction jobs make up the majority of vacancies and experts believe this is due to misconceptions about working conditions and pay in the sector.

Germany, France and the Netherlands all have the most vacancies for staffing and recruitment jobs.

IT services and consultancy account for the most vacancies in Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Serbia and Bulgaria.

Africa

The World Bank estimates that economic growth will slow across Africa due to global economic sluggishness, persistent inflation and difficult financial conditions with high debt.

Although the World Bank predicts that growth will pick up in the future, this will not be enough to reduce extreme poverty and boost shared prosperity.

In Kenya, Ethiopia and Tunisia have the most opportunities in the field of software development. In Nigeria and Angola, HR Services is responsible for most vacancies.

Asia

Russia faces economic turmoil as it wages war with Ukraine. Even a senior Russian figure, Andrei Nechayev, criticized that economic sanctions from the West will push the country into a financial crisis.

As Resume.io headed towards economic disaster, he discovered that the technology, information and internet industries have the most opportunities in Russia.

Oceania

Below, just three sectors account for 30 percent of available jobs in Australia, with government administration at the top, accounting for 11.60 percent of vacancies. The other two are staffing and recruitment activities and hospitals and healthcare.

While government data shows Australia has historically low unemployment, this is not translating into decent wage increases.

Experts say white-collar professionals who worked from home saw the weakest wage growth.

With some Aussies missing out on high-paying jobs, recruiters are struggling to fill roles in the mining sector that pay more than $150,000 due to the industry’s reputation.

New Zealand and Papua New Guinea had the most vacancies in personnel and recruitment.
