But outside the British capital, many towns and villages have hosted some famous film scenes.
Now, Virgin Media has launched an interactive tool dubbed 'Movie Mapper', which reveals the locations that brought famous movie moments to life.
From Fast and Furious 9 in Edinburgh to Star Wars: The Force Awakens in the Lake District, some of the biggest blockbusters have somewhat surprising filming locations.

The map is the brainchild of Virgin Media and depicts the filming locations of hundreds of films.
“We've created our easy-to-use Movie Mapper to complement Virgin TV's hassle-free navigation, allowing movie fans across the country to immerse themselves in their favorite films and get inspired for their next off-screen trip,” he said. David Bushier, CEO of TV and Entertainment at Virgin Media O2.
“We can now all create our own memories at some of the UK’s most iconic film locations.”

To reach the Wizarding World, the Hogwarts Express travels across the famous Glenfinnan Bridge in the Scottish Highlands.

MailOnline tested the tool and discovered some unexpected shooting locations.
It's no surprise that London is a hotbed of filming, with all the scenes of hit films including James Bond: No Time to Die, The Duchess and Johnny English having been filmed in central London.
In Birmingham, Ready Player One and Brassed Off were filmed, while a key scene in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 was filmed at Grand Central Shopping Centre.
Heading north, Morbius and 24 Hour Party People were filmed in Manchester, The Batman in Liverpool, and Bank of Dave and Kes in Leeds.

The Harry Potter franchise alone has been filmed in various magical locations across the United Kingdom.
The Dursley's home is located in Bracknell, Berkshire, while the charming village of Hogsmeade was filmed on the streets of Lacock in Wiltshire.
