Jimmy Kimmel caused a laugh at the Oscars last night when he referenced one of the blockbuster weight loss drugs that has taken Hollywood by storm.
The TV presenter told the audience, “Everyone looks so good. Looking around this room, I can’t help but wonder, “Is Ozempic right for me?”
Ozempic and Wegovy have gained immense popularity after being the first drugs proven to help with weight loss.
Celebrities including Elon Musk and Remi Bader have revealed that they used the drug to reduce fat. It is rumored that many other famous faces who have been looking slim lately have used them.
No barriers! Jimmy Kimmel took aim at Will Smith’s infamous Oscars punch in his hilarious opening monologue at the 2023 ceremony on Sunday
The drugs act like a hormone in the brain that makes people feel less hungry and slows down the clearing of food from the stomach, stimulating weight loss.
Below is the list of celebrities who have tried the drug… and those who have claimed they haven’t:
Celebrities who have used the drug:
Chelsea Handler was seen arriving at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party in 2020
Chelsea Handlers
The comedian has revealed that she was given Ozempic to fight aging, but didn’t even know she was taking it.
The 47-year-old said she lost a few pounds on the drug but stopped taking it after realizing it was Ozempic – saying it should be left to diabetic patients.
The drug was initially developed for diabetics, but studies showed it had the added benefit of blocking hunger.
Ozempic is a weakened version of Wegovy, which is built specifically for obesity.
On the Call Her Daddy podcast, Handler said, “So my anti-aging doctor just hands it out to everyone.”
‘I didn’t even know I was doing it. She said, “If you ever want to drop five pounds, this is good.”
She only found out over lunch with a friend shortly after returning from a holiday in Spain last year.
Her friend told her she wasn’t really eating anything and was feeling nauseous because she was taking Ozempic. Handler replied that she also felt nauseous, but that it was probably due to her jet lag.
When she said she injected herself with semaglutide, her friend explained, “That’s Ozempic!”
Handler said, “I’m out of it. That’s too irresponsible.
“I injected about four or five of my friends with Ozempic because I realized I didn’t want to use it because it’s stupid. It’s for heavy people.’
Elon Musk has also used Ozempic. He is pictured above attending the 2020 Vanity Fair Oscars party
Elon Musk
One of the world’s richest men said Ozempic made him “fit, ripped and healthy.”
Elon Musk said he lost nearly 13.6 kg while taking the drug.
He revealed that he used it last October when a fan asked what the secret was to his new slimmed-down look.
“Fasting,” replied Musk, 51, before adding, “And Wegovy.”
He has also said that his transformation was due to: “Fasting + Ozempic/Wegovy + no good food for me.”
He said his weight-loss journey was prompted after seeing unflattering images of himself on a yacht.
The 51-year-old’s weight loss formula sparked admiration from fans.
He also admitted to suffering from a side effect of the drug. One Twitter user asked, “Does that give you those pesky burps? Tastes like rotten eggs lol ugh.’
He replied: ‘Yes, next level.’

Plus-size model and TikTok star Remi Bader also revealed that she used Ozempic.
The 27-year-old was prescribed the drug when she developed pre-diabetes.
She lost some weight on the drug, but said that when she came off it, she gained back twice as much weight as she had lost.
“I was like, ‘I bet as soon as I leave I’m going to starve again,'” she told the Not Skinny but Not Fat podcast in January.
And I did. My binge eating got so much worse so then I blamed Ozempic. I came back double the weight after’.
She went to a doctor because of all the weight she had put back on and was told it was “100 percent because you started taking Ozempic.”
She now says she is “annoyed” that the drug has become a trend because it is meant to be reserved for people with diabetes.
It was rumored that celebrities had NOT used the shot
Khloe Kardashian Said She Doesn’t Use Ozempic (Pictured At The 2014 Oscars)

In January, Khloe shared a photo of herself on the cover of lifestyle magazine Sorbet.
However, it quickly led to a response from a social media user: “The fact that she is on diabetes [sic] medication to become so thin is disturbing.’
After reading the comment, Khloe quickly responded to the suggestion.
She replied, “Let’s not discredit my years of training.
“I get up at 6 a.m. five days a week to train. Please stop making assumptions. I think New Year still means mean people.’
Her sister Kim Kardashian has also faced claims that she used Ozempic.
In May, the reality TV star revealed that she had lost 7 kg in three weeks so she would be able to put on a dress that belonged to Marilyn Monroe.
She has never responded to the allegations, although they keep popping up on social media.

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards has also denied using Ozempic to lose weight.
The celebrity faced the claims after she posted a photo of herself in workout clothes in January this year.
She responded to a commenter: “Don’t spread lies. I don’t use Ozempic.’
Asked about the allegations during an interview in February, she said: “I can’t stand people saying that because people know me, know I’m up every day at five, six at the latest… I’m at the gym for two hours.
“I’ve really put a lot of effort into my diet and exercise and taking care of myself, so when people like to think I took the easy way out, it’s frustrating.”
She also hit out at the claims about a week ago, tellingly People: ‘I didn’t even know about Ozempic until I lost all the weight I wanted to lose.
“I actually started losing weight eight months ago because I stopped drinking alcohol eight months ago.”
She added, “It was never a diet drug, I never touched it. So it really just frustrated me because I’m training really hard.’
Rosie O’Donnell is pictured above. She said she didn’t take Ozempic
Rosie O’Donnell
The comedian revealed that she lost 4.5 kg in about three weeks, leading to claims that she was taking Ozempic.
But the 60-year-old, who also has diabetes, quickly hit back, saying she had actually taken a drug called Mounjaro.
This is a weight loss drug similar to Ozempic, but uses the drug tirzepatide to target two hunger hormones instead of one.
Studies have shown no significant difference in the amount people lose depending on the trial they participate in.
Speaking of the drug, she said, “I would say it feels like freedom. Freedom from intrusive thoughts about food, about what you eat.
‘I think it is fantastic.’
O’Donnell also got more exercise and cut back on sugars and artificial sweeteners to help with weight loss.
She also kicked her habit of drinking five Diet Cokes a day, opting for water instead.
US TV personality Meghan McCain said she was told to take the drug just four weeks after giving birth (pictured above at the 2021 Algemeiner gala)
Megan McCain
American TV personality Meghan McCain says she had to take the drug just four weeks after the birth of her second daughter, Clover.
She wrote in DailyMail.com, “I’ve been told ‘everyone does it’, as if that was ever a compelling case.
“I hear “just take the picture,” as it has become known in shorthand. I was even offered a free black market gift by someone with “extra shots at home”.
“Well, let me make one thing very clear. I’m not taking it. I refuse.’
McCain said there was a clear problem with taking the drug intended for diabetics.
She said, “There is a clear moral problem here. It’s hard to take a drug because bathing suit season is just around the corner, while others need it to stay alive.”
She also expressed concern about whether the drug was healthy or not.
A pill or an injection can’t solve every problem in life, but that’s all too often what Americans strive for. And Ozempic responds perfectly to that.’
She said she should be an example to her daughters, who will one day face the same beauty standards.
Alexia Nepola and Marysol Patton
Alexia Nepola and Marysol Patton pictured themselves visiting the Empire State Building in New York City last month
Real Housewives of Miami stars Alexia Nepola and Marysol Patton have had to deny taking Ozempic.
Rumors circulated after the couple got a “mystery shot” at a doctor during season five of the program.
But in response to the rumours, Nepola insisted they get vitamin B12 shots.
“It’s for energy and it has, like other nutrients,” she shared Page six.
“The doctor had given it to Marysol because she was feeling weak and lethargic and… [it] maybe she needed to do something with her diet, but the B-12 always contributes to one’s health.”
Vitamin B-12 is used by the body to make red blood cells – essential for the transport of oxygen – and to construct DNA.
Everyone should be able to get enough on a balanced diet, with top sources such as beef, eggs and dairy products.
If someone is deficient in the vitamin, they may need an injection every two to three months for the rest of their life.
