Where to pre-order the Xbox Series S Carbon Black with a 1 TB SSD

A new Xbox Series S is coming in September. Microsoft announced during the latest Xbox Games Showcase that a black model with a 1 TB SSD will ship on September 1, the same day early access launches for those who pre-order Star field‘s $99.99 Premium Edition, or Game Pass subscribers who have the $34.99 premium upgrade.

The Carbon Black variant of the discless Series S console is sold for $349.99 – $50 more than the retail price for the white console that comes with a 512 GB SSD. That said, the white Series S can usually be found cheaper if you’re looking for a deal.

If you want Microsoft’s slimmer Xbox when it comes out, you can pre-order it now from the Microsoft Store.

Microsoft has not shared the final storage figure of the carbon black Xbox Series S. However, if it’s like the 1 TB Xbox Series X, the amount of actual storage you can use is probably less than that. For reference, of the Series X’s 1TB SSD, only 802GB is usable, as the console’s operating system takes up a portion of it. This new SSD boost from the Series S – while nice – might not be enough storage space, as more and more games ship with install sizes over 100GB. So you may want to look into buying an Xbox SSD, such as the 1 TB WD Black C50 Expansion Cardto go with your purchase.
