Where to get and how to combine materials in FFXIV

After you have reached the maximum level and acquired a set of good equipment Final fantasy 14you want to merge material on top. Whether it is for you fight job or your craftsmen And collectorsmateria can sometimes make a pretty big difference.

You can of course buy materials from the market board, but this is an expensive route, and you usually don’t want to do this unless you’re looking for older materials for overlisting (more on that below).

Obtaining regular combat materials is quite easy, but obtaining materials for crafters and collectors is a little more difficult. Below we explain where you can go FFXIV materia and how you can combine it with your equipment.

Where to get combat equipment

The easiest way to get materia is to trade cracked clusters, where different types of clusters correlate with different material levels. From the End runner extension, the desired clusters are Cracked Dendroclusters And Cracked Anthoclusters. You can obtain these by doing the following activities:

Once you have the clusters, you can trade in Dendroclusters and Anthoclusters from the materia supplier Radz-at-Han or Old Sharlayan for level nine and 10 materia. These NPCs are marked on the in-game map as β€œMateria Masters‘ with an icon of materia.

You can also trade them with the NPCs of Rowena’s representatives in Ishgard, Kugane, Limsa Lominsa, Gridania, and Ul’dah.

If you still have clusters of old expansions, you can exchange them for those expansions at the relevant hub cities. Stormblood clusters can be traded in Rhalgr’s Reach and Shadowbringers clusters can be traded in Eulmore.

You can also choose to get materia from your gear, in exchange for resetting your spirit bond, once you complete the quest”The Forging of the Spirit.” We don’t really recommend this though, as combat equipment is quite easy to find.

There are a few other currencies you can exchange for materia, such as bags of nuts from hunting, as well as the currency from Variant Dungeons like Aloalo Island or the Sil’dihn Subterrane. You can also trade PvP Wolf Marks and Arkasodara tribe currency for high-level materials.

Where you can get crafting and collecting materials

Like combat materials, there is a cracked crystal that you can exchange for whatever materials you want. Cracked dendrocrystals And Cracked anthoc crystals However, only come from high rewards for completing Khloe’s Wondrous Tails.

Fortunately, there are a number of other ways to obtain the materia without having to trade crystals:

  • Collect purple crafting or collecting scrips and exchange them for creating or collecting materials respectively. You can get scrips by making drop-ins or custom deliveries, for characters like Margrat or Ameliance at level 90.
  • Trade The cowries of the island or Seafarers’ cowries for the materials you want on your island shrine.

As mentioned above regarding battle materials, you can also choose to get crafting and gathering materials from your gear in exchange for resetting your spirit bond. Unlike combat materials, this is actually quite useful, as crafting and collecting materials can get expensive. Even the low-level material you extract can be used for overreporting.

How to merge material in FFXIV

There are three ways to fuse materia: you can ask an NPC to do it, you can do it yourself, or you can ask a friend to do it.

NPCs that can fuse materia are located in most towns and are all labeled as ‘Material Reporter.” They are usually next to a material supplier NPC. Just click on it and select the equipment and material you want to combine, and they will do it for you, very simple.

You can fuse the materia yourself once you unlock the Materia Melding ability via the ‘Awakening the Spirit‘side quest. You can fuse any materia together as long as you have it at least one crafter (it doesn’t matter which one) at the same level or higher than the equipment you’re trying to combine. Once you’re all set, simply select the gear you want to merge and then choose the merge option from the menu that appears.

You can also ask a buddy to report your materia for you, as long as they meet the requirements above, by selecting them and choosing the ‘request report’ option.

When merging, keep an eye on the statistics in the menu, as added statistics will not flow over their limits. The number will appear red if you add too much:

Over-notify with Advanced Materia Notification

You can add even more material to some equipment, via Advanced Material Reporting. To unlock Advanced Materia Melding you must complete the quest ‘Materia a lot of merging.”

You cannot overlap unique gear (the gear with the blue and green backgrounds), as indicated in the in-game tooltips that say “Advanced Melding Forbidden.” That said, it’s best to overreport high quality manufactured equipmentmaking it an expensive endeavor to even begin.

Once you have your homemade gear, you will ideally want to press five materials onto it, known as ‘pentameld.” You start with the highest level materia and then move down, adding lower level materia until all the stats are filled as you want:

The more materia you merge, the less likely the next one will bond, so it becomes a bit of an RNG situation. Unfortunately, material that does not fuse explodes and is lost to the wind. Which, yes, means that over-subscribing your gear will require a lot of material and therefore drive up costs.

But once you make expert level crafting gear, you get all that money back, right? R-right?
