Where to find water chestnuts in the fields of Mistria
Water chestnuts are an item you can forage for Fields of Mistriabut unlike the other plants you find all over the colorful world, these are quite difficult to see.
Quite early in the game, Juniper will task you with finding water chestnuts. She wants two, and in return, she will teach you how to make water chestnut fritters. You will also earn some fame for Mistria.
Below we explain where you can find water chestnuts in Fields of Mistriaand what else you can use them for.
Where to find water chestnuts in the fields of Mistria
You can find water chestnuts at fixed spawn locations in The Narrowsthe map west of Mistria. There are quite a few of them growing in the water directly south of the museum. They appear as small sprouts along the edge of the river, but as soon as you come into contact with those sprouts, a bunch of water chestnuts appear, ripe for the picking. In our game, there were five spots along the river where the water chestnuts spawn and respawn.
It takes about four days for water chestnuts to respawn in the game, so we recommend saving a few before selling them or using the rest, in case you need them during this respawn period.
Sometimes you can also buy them from Balor’s trading wagon for 25 Tesserae each, but his shop seems to rotate randomly, so this method of collecting chestnuts isn’t exactly reliable.
What are water chestnuts used for?
Outside of the first quest where they’re asked, you can eat the water chestnuts for three HP and stamina each, but this isn’t really a good use of them. Once you unlock the mill, you can use the water chestnuts to make better animal feed for your ranch needs. You can cook the chestnuts into water chestnut fritters, which restore 56 HP and stamina, as well as trail mix, which restores 12 HP and stamina. (There are other recipes as well.)
Interestingly, Juniper, one of the romance candidates, enjoys receiving water chestnut fritters as a gift, so it’s worth cooking them with her in mind.
