Where to find the O Mother gesture in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

“O Mother” is one of the five added gestures Elden Ring in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, and it’s crucial to accessing part of the Shadow Realm map, the Hinterlands. You’ll need access to that area in northwest Scadu Altus to complete Count Ymir’s questline, so the “O Mother” gesture is of great importance.

In this Elden Ring guide, we will show you where you can find the ‘O Mother’ gesture and where to use it.


O Mother Gesture Location in Elden Ring DLC

To learn the O Mother gesture, you will need access to Bonnie village, which lies west of Scadu Altus and southwest of Moorth Ruins. The O Mother gesture is located directly north of the Bonny Village map icon, at the far northern end of the village’s landmass.

Once you reach Bonny Village, head east and as you ride Torrent, double jump over the small ravine that bisects the village. Then drive north until you see a lone tree on the north side of the village.

Just under that tree is a headless statue. Interact with it and you obtain the O Mother gesture.

How to get to Bonny Village in Elden Ring?

Bonny Village is accessible via an underground tunnel that can be reached from Moorth Ruins. A hole in the ground east of the Moorth Ruins Site of Grace is your entry point, but be careful which way you enter the underground area.

The best and safest way to reach that underground area is from a ledge in the broken remains of Moorth Ruins, as seen below.

From here the journey by tube from Moorth Ruins towards Bonny Village is quite easy. You’ll encounter a few Shadow Undead and Candlestick mages and can acquire the Shattered Stone Talisman and the Golden Arcs Charm along the way.

You’ll know when you’ve found Bonny Village when you reach the rope ladder pictured below.

Where to use the O Mother gesture

To access the Hinterland and the Ruin Map (2nd) areayou must go through Shadow Keep. From the Shadow Keep, Backgate Site of MercyWalk north, where you’ll see a side passage to the east that leads to a headless statue of Marika. At this altar you must use the ‘O Mother’ gesture to open a secret passage leading to the place of grace in the hinterland.

From here you’ll face a pair of Tree Sentinels, access the Shaman Village and Fingerstone Hill, where the Finger Ruins of Dheo can be found.
